I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but I like a simple lemon cake made w/ yellow cake.
Just bake the cake, except where it calls for water, substitute some of it w/ lemon juice. Make a syrup w/ powdered sugar and lemon juice. I don't measure. I just stop when it's pourable. Then poke holes in the cake w/ a fork and pour the syrup all over it.
