Went out to dinner over the weekend with the in-laws. At the restaurant, dd#1 had calamari. Delicious, fried calamari. Dd#1 tucked in to the appetizer as if it was the only thing she was going to eat that night.
We got home, put the kids to bed and saw dd#1 come downstairs about a 1/2 hour later complaining about diarrhea. I went to her room and it was apparent that she also coated her bed with puke too, poor kid.
This is the second time in about two years that she's had calamari. And the second time she's had this reaction. The last time she ate it, we left it open to the possibility that it was some 24 hour flu. But the coincidence is too much.
How do I know if she's allergic? Should I get some and give her a tiny bit and find out? Or just avoid it for another year or two and hope she grows out of it?
What makes me sad is to think she's 1/4 Italian. This dish is something my Dad and I just LOVE.
