The California State Assembly passed an extension on Meagan's Law to the year 2007 - allowing California residents access to the State registered sex offenders database - yesterday in an "emergency" session which was held due to the efforts of two California assemblymen who champion this issue:

Assemblyman Russ Bogh (Yucaipa)
Capitol Office
State Capitol
Room 3098
Sacramento, CA 94249-0065
Phone: (916) 319-2065
Fax: (916) 319-2165

Assemblyman John Benoit (Riverside)
Capitol Office
State Capitol
Room 4144
Sacramento, CA 94249-0064
Phone: (916) 319-2064
Fax: (916) 319-2164

REGARDLESS of your district, I strongly encourage you to call these officers and ask them who you can contact and what you can do to help them in their efforts to take confidentiality rights AWAY from the criminals living in our neighborhoods. Don't leave a message. TALK to the administrators in their offices until you find out how to join the fight.

The current law does not allow your law enforcement agency to realease address or location information on these individuals to protect their privacy!

Let's help these assembly men acomplish the task of rescinding privacy statutes for convicted sex offenders we may not even know are living on our block.

Please call them today and FIND OUT what you can do and who you can implore in your district to join their fight.

We all deserve to know the predators living in our neighborhoods, our children deserve to know.
