It does look like yeast. However, my nipples looked like that from about a week after my dd's birth until she was almost 8 weeks old, was put on 4 yeast medications and then figured out it was only Nipple Dermititis. I'm a little leary of people using thrush medications before ruling out everything else, simply because if you have yeast you also need to treat your dc. It ticked me off that my dd was put on 4 yeast medications without needing it.

That being said, do you have eczema or extremely dry skin at all? My nipple dermatitis was due to dry skin. It just took some lanolin and a few weeks patience. If this doesn't apply to you, then I would seek out a trusted LC (maybe someone from LLL) to help you rule out anything else before seeking thrush treatment.

Hope this helps.

Looks like the yeasties to me. That's what my nipples looked like with yeast. Get thee to the store for some gentian violet or GSE! Better to be safe than sorry, right? In a few days it could turn into cracked bleeding nipples and sores on the areola and white patches in baby's mouth. YUCK!
