Talia is asking lots of questions about what is inside of her, where her food goes, and so on. She also has a lot of questions about why we have to eat healthy food, when other people eat junk. I've tried answering those questions, but I think my answers are pretty abstract since she can't see pictures. My answers don't seem to make much sense to her, and I can understand why. Soooo, I'm looking for a good "What's inside my body" kind of book for her. Can anybody recommend one?

Thank you!

My kids really like "My first book of questions and answers: Human Body"

It is really great and easy to understand with clear, realistic pictures.

there are 31 subjects with a paragraph or two each like:

What's my skin for?
How many bones do I have?
Where does my food go?
What's blood for?
What makes me yawn?
What are nerves?
Where did I come from?
Why do I sleep?

ETC... great book for ages 2-10 or so IMO.

It's by Sue Nicholson, Parragon Publishing

My dd who is 6 is fascinated with anything to do with the Human Body.

I saw some books by Usbourne- one is : 'See Inside Your Body' (A flap book) that looks fab!! They also do one called 'How Your Body Works'. They also have some pocket science books that are internet linked. I think Usbourne books are great for children and adults alike.

We just got a really cool flip book from the bargain section of Barnes and Noble. It has clear pages and each one has a different body system on it and the overlap to make the whole body. Did that make sense???

Anyways, it is very cool and was only 5 or 6 dollars!

there are also several really neat animations on line on digestion. my dd was really enjoying them when she was 3.5. we haven't looked at them for a while, she is into other things now.

let me try to find them...

there was another one, on the same page with brain activity and skeleton assembly, which was really cool. you could take the digestive system / brain / skeleton apart, and then put it back together. *i* had fun! (dd too). i am not able to find it now, and i lost my favorites.

i think this link was posted here too, let me see if i can find it. OH!!! FOUND IT!
this one is great.

My four year old dd loves Dorling Kindersley's First Human Body Encyclopedia. The pictures are great and the information is in reasonably short paragraphs. I like that it uses a real vocabulary.

We have also had fun with a model book called Uncover the Human Body. It layers in a model page by page, which is pretty cool since it shows how everything is connected in three dimensions. However, as my dd noticed, there are a couple of mistakes. For example, they spell "pleural" "plural." Otherwise, it is useful.
