I am looking for a chalkboard that is easy to clean in particular.

I would use chalkboard paint. We had some in our old house and we were able to cover a HUGE wall with it! It cleaned well too : ) They also have chalkboard "sticky" type things, we have that now in our rental -- easy to clean but a drag to put on

yeah my house is a homage to chalkboard paint, I love it but went a bit mad at christmas with it and now my friends mock me ;-) . Its great stuff. It cleans well, but tbh if it doesn't its cheap enough that you can always just paint over it.

Yeah chalkboard paint sounds great but I don't think I'm ready to paint a wall.

You dont have to paint a wall. I would paint a piece of wood with chalkboard paint

You can make your own chalkboard paint to match too (the board or even a closet door). Matching paint = covert rental chalkboard paint. Here is how:

Wow that chalkboard on pinterest is looking pretty stylish... that site can be addictive! I never considered converting some other surface other than a wall with chalkboard paint. Maybe this could work for us. Thank you everyone for your input.
