I've started having BH contractions this week (16 weeks). I was a little surprised but just made it a point to up my liquid intake and put my feet up. Not always convenient, but necessary, I think. Anyway, I've noticed that a few times I've had the BHs, I have also had gas pains followed by gas. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/blush.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="blush"> Right before I became pregnant, I was diagnosed with IBS. So this is a new thing for me. Could these gastro issues be causing BH? Or is it just coincidental? btw, I've had the BH without the gas as well as the other way around. But mostly they coincide. Any thoughts?

I don't get them when I have gas, but I definately get the BH's when pressure is put on my abdomen, such as when I wear a seatbelt, and when I press up againt a counter, etc. I'm not worried about it at all because I have the same reaction in some of my voluntary muscles as well when I'm not pregnant. I get charlie horses really easily if my calf muscle is banged on.

Yes, I think so. I too have IBS & can get some really weird feelings going on when I have gas. So much pressure it feels like BH. Once I pass the gas it is much better & the BH go away. If if continues ask your MW or OB.
