my 22 month old ds is *always* asking for food! seriously. in the last hour, he had:
2 1-cup servings of soup
8 saltine crackers
36 grapes
3 handfuls of raisins
1 banana
a few goldfish cheese crackers (whole wheat)
2 whole wheat pretzels

plus probably three cups of water, and a few sips of my apple juice. and a 20 minute nursing session (no guarentee he's getting milk, i'm 20 wk preg.) and he's always eating like this. he eats nearly all day long. then he'll eat dinner with dh and i, and then a snack before he nurses to sleep. any one elses littles eat like this?

My DD often eats like that. I figure they are growing, they know how much they need. As long as you offer healthy choices (and you have), then I wouldn't worry.

My only suggestion is to add some protein in there. All of those foods are very high carb, except for the soup, depending on what kind it was.

My DS went was like that at that age as well. Now at 2 1/2 I wish he would eat more, as I feel like he doesn't eat enough. My 2 DD's have always gone through cycles, so maybe he is just gearing up for a growth spurt.

Yes.
My 21 month old ate - for breakfast only -
2 large bananas
1 bowl full of yogurt and cherrios
1 8 oz glass of milk
1 med apple
about half of my granola
8 oz of tea/water
1 rice cake

And ate a snack 2 hours later like he hadn't eaten in a week. He is ~ 35 lbs and 38 inches, so a big boy, but still! I'm dreading the teenage grocery bill.

LOL... my 18 month old eats, for breakfast:

3 eggs (LARGE eggs)
one large banana
one piece whole grain toast
10oz water

Then about half an hour later usually has a bowlful of organic cheerio-type cereal, and a whole apple.

Then a nap. Then lunch... pasta, veggies, and sometimes meat. We're talking a 3-4cup serving.

Maybe another nap

Then more snacks... grazing... then dinner is usually a biiiig meat, veggie, starch (potatoes usually)

And then more snacks.

And of course nursing too.

whew! thank goodness he's not the only one! i, too, am dreading the teenage grocery bills.

since i posted, he slowed down some. only had some more raisins, and about 3/4 apple with peanut butter to dip.

i hope its a growth spurt and not just how he is now. we def. won't be able to afford this forever!

thanks mamas! its such a relief. i was sort of worried, as i read all about toddlers not eating.
