Or do they have to be dried first? When I plant things I try to think about what the plant would naturally "do" without me there to mess things up. So, the melon would rot on the vine, the seeds would get funky and I guess eventually dry up until the weather was right for sprouting. Any suggestions?<br><br>

I think you can plant them right away! Ofcourse, if the melon was some &%*# hybrid, the seeds might not be fertile.

I've had melons come up from my compost pile, so I think it would work to just chunk them out there. But, yeah, if it is a hybrid, there is no telling what will grow on it, if anything.
