I miss ibprophen for sinus infections. (the only time I ever even LIKE taking medicine. Usually, I'm pretty natural)

I have taken it 3X in the this pregnancy. I only use it as a last resort. I googled it and found out that long term use of ibuprofen during pregnancy can cause one of the unborn babies heart valves to close early. I hope this helps. I don't think one time is going to hurt anything but google it and decide what you want to do.

i miss it dearly, too, but have sworn it off. did you try chlortrimeton? it really helped me when my allergies were bad, but of course it depends on what kind of headache you have.

you can also try a little heat or cold on your sinuses.

hope you feel better soon.

I had very bad headaches during the beginning of the second trimester, and my very natural midwife said that first I should try to drink a little caffeine because it is a vaso-constrictor and may help clear up the headaches. If that didn't work, she said to take a regular ibuprofen. She said that it is definitely not recommended to take it regularly, but if you have to take it once or twice, it will not hurt your baby.

Hope that helps - hope you feel better soon.

I feel for you! I just recovered from a nasty virus/infection...I had the worst headache of my life and it lasted for 5 days straight, plus a fever. Tylenol was useless. Hope you feel better.

From what I've read and according to Sears, you can use it (sparingly) until your third trimester. I'm not taking my chances though, and I agree that Tylenol does nothing. I've just been dealing with whatever pains I get.

I had a bad sinus infection earlier in the pregnancy and read to try hot caffeinated coffee. It actually helped both with unclogging my passages and my headache.

It's one of those things you have to decide for yourself about.

I had one family doc (doing OB for me) with my first preg, who not only said all NSAIDS were fine... but treated my irritable uterus contractions with 600mg Ibuprofen daily...... so I took a LOT of it that pregnancy (kiddo was fine).

I had an OB with my next pregnancy who was okay with sparing use of it until the third trimester.. if nothing else was working. Once again my baby was fine.. and I did only use it sparingly.

And now I have a midwife..... who is against all that stuff.. and doesn't even recommend tylonel much. (but my family doc had me on Tylonel with codeine with my sinus infection I had earlier in this pregnancy.. and yes he knew I was preg!)

Sooooooo um yeah definitely give it some thought.. and then make your decision.

I have decide to (quietly.. so as not to upset my midwife) take NSAIDS sparingly.. if needed.... because sometimes it's just not worth suffering.....
