Sigh. I am on domperidone, which increases milk supply (and also usually suspends fertility), but I'm weaning myself off of it.

So, yesterday I was visited by AF, who I have not seen in a VERY long time!

I whipped out my extremely small stash of mama pads (first time ever used! I loved them, NO MORE ITCHY UNCOMFORTABLE PADS for me!).

However, AF has decided that she's not really ready to see me yet... so I only used two pads.

One of them I'm wearing... the other is sitting in a discreet spot.

What the heck do I do with them? I haven't soaked them. Can I just wash with my dipes???

Oh, and do you really have to soak mama pads? What if you're a really lazy person, plus you can't find a discreet place to do that?

I always toss my pads in with the poopy dipes; no soaking, but they get a cold prewash

Yep, wash as many as you want with the dipes. Even throw them in the pail with the dipes if you want.

Yup, that's how we dealt with postpartum mama cloth around here. Since I couldn't do my keeper yet at that point, we went all pads. I tossed them in my diaper pail and they got washed through with the diapers. That cold rinse but no soaking didn't completely take out all the staining but a bit of sunning finished it off. Isn't it nice to be away from that papery, itchy stuff?!

Like the pp's said, I always just through them in with the diapers on the cold rise (I use the cup now, so I haven't used them in a while) and I never had problems.

Yes I wash my pads with my diapers. The worst thing that could happen if you don't soak them is a stain, but I haven't had a problem.

I just tossed mine in with the dipes. If they were super heavy, I'd give them a quick rinse and squeeze in the sink and that was it. (Using Diva Cup now.)

Hey, AF just visited me for the first time PP too, and I only used 3 pads! :LOL First time using cloth pads and I LOVE them too. I tossed them in the diaper pail and washed like normal with the dipes--not even a cold rinse. Yeah, they are a little stained but they are mama cloth... I mean, that's their function and it's not like I'm gonna resell them and no one else is going to see them... so I decided I don't really care. :LOL

I always put my diapers to soak in cold water in the wash anyway, so putting mama pads in there has always worked just fine for me.

our 'discreet spot' to put them is IN the diaper pail! :LOL I don't know what we did without that pail (or the stroller that we use to bring the groceries home in now! )

We generally don't bother with the rinse because we're lazy and don't care about stains and our mama cloth is all made out of dark colours anyway stains don't really show.

I use instead softcups now and LOVE them (I've used a keeper and mama cloth too) My wife prefers mama cloth and I use them unstuffed for the last day when I'm tired of having my period but still need somthing.

Thanks for the replies! I washed them with the dipes today and they came out fine. And like some pp's said, I don't really care if they're stained anyway. I thought maybe there was some really mysterious reason for soaking them I guess

The keeper/diva cup thing sounds really neat, but I never liked tampons and I don't think I would like using one of those either. I don't know why... I found tampons to be very uncomfortable and could never get them inserted correctly.

Cold rinse then toss them in with diapers. Hydrogen Per. if you get a stain.
They will be fine. You can toss them in with towels too.
