Can night waking be a sign of an allergy?

601 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  mamatojackn
My DS has gine from sleeping through the night to waking up 5 or 6 times and at first I thiought it was teething or pre-crawling or something. I just now realized that the wakings came right around the time we started offering him solid food. Can night waking with no other symptoms mean an allergy or am I grasping at straws here?
thanks!

I know night-waking can defenitely be a sign of an allergy. I think it's also a common phase for babies to start waking a lot at night when they are about to/or already have just hit a developmental milestone. I would cut out the solids for a couple of weeks and see how things go.
Mine goes from 1-2 night wakings to 5-6 night wakings right before a major milestone. The worse was right before crawling, when she was first learning. She was up more than every one hour.
Night waking can definitely be a sign of allergy or heavy metals - My ds has very high heavy metals which prevent his body from properly digesting foods and assimilating nutrients - so hes had stomach issues from day one - which leads to a very restless night.
He's being treated by his naturopath and taking chlorella and L-Glutamine and its helping.
Thanks for the replies. He started crawling today so it's probably that, but I'll axe the solids for a while anyway since it can't hurt. Hope he starts sleeping better one way or another.
to the poster who said your son has a high metal isue- what were his symptoms and what led you to test for that and ultimately diagnose it as that? my son has multiple food sensitivities and even though i haven't been eating the offending foods for nearly all his life, he still is sensitive and wakes frequently. someone recently mentioned the possibility of metals in passing-but i don't know much about it. feel free to pm me if you'd prefer. i'd love to learn more. THANK YOU!
