This is a slow moving forum and I think you'd get more help from the Gentle Discipline Forum here. Poke around there a bit and read some of the threads and ask questions. We've all been through that developmental period. (They are learning so much then! What they think is more than what they can communicate!)

A little tour.

Or, go to the bottom of the page and there is a long, thin box labeled "Forum Jump" with a drop down menu. Click on the \/ arrow and the menu will open. Then run the highlighter down until you see "Gentle Discipline".

Or, go to the top of the page and look for the "path" to where you are in blue. Click on the highest level forum, which would be "MotheringDotCommune Forums". That'll open the whole front page of the boards. There's lots to explore.

I also recommend looking at the abbreviations thread in "Questions and Suggestions". It is a sticky and you can get to it directly from here: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...ead.php?t=2080 The specific one you'll need for the Discipline forum is GD which = Gentle Discipline. It turns up a lot in thread titles. Unfortunately, there is also CIO, which = Cry It Out, an unpleasant coping method for some people at the end of their wits. There will be threads with that in the title, too.

You might want to search for posts on Alfie Kohn, who has written some very interesting books. Several people here have found them very useful.

Good luck!

PS: I searched for a favorite poster of mine who isn't around much these days for her posts in the GD Forum: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...archid=1962444 Check out some of these threads and it might give you ideas.
