I was taking a liquid one earlier in the pregnancy, but I've been bad about it lately. I think I need a pill-form so I remember. The only one I have has glucosamine in it, which I'm fairly sure is a pg no-no.

So, any recommendations of a brand? Good, but none too expensive. Thanks!

I use the powder kind, I just put it in my oatmeal or my applesauce. Lemme get my big fat pregnant butt off the computer chair and go look at what brand it is... Solaray for Infants and Pregnant or Lactating Mothers. You have to keep it in the fridge.

My absolute favorite is made by Garden of Life and is called Primal Defense. I have worked at health food stores off and on for the last 7 years and in all my research this is th very best!!

Is there a risk in general? I could only find one by Solaray that was not specific for infants. I'll see if I can find the Garden of Life one. I'm gearing up for the GBS test in a couple of weeks...

Anyone heard of Culturelle? My son's Gastroenterologist rec'd it. I wonder if I could take it too.

This is kind of a side note, but your post intrigued me. My 2 yo has reflux and has battled it since birth. I refused any meds when he was younger and exclusively bf, and it got better with solids. Once he turned about 13-14 mos old, it started coming back, and by 18 mos, he was throwing up every night before bed and waking up with acid stomach. He's been on Zantac since January, and I'm DESPERATE to get him off. Someone else here mentioned probiotics. We have a med-friendly pediatric gastro that I can't really get anywhere with. If you don't mind, what were the circumstances with your son, and how were you advised?? I'll try anything. He's been testing for all kinds of allergies w/o any positives, and he's had bad eczema that I'm just now getting under control (no longer bloody and weepy). Oh, and he drools like crazy! Always has, and everyone has written it off, saying, "Oh, he's teething." Well, if he's been teething non-stop since birth, then why hasn't he gained several full-mouth's of teeth? I've watched other kids his age - it's abnormal.

I'm sorry to post in a different direction, but I really hope you can help me. Where have you found this probiotic, "Culturelle," and how is it dosed?

Desperate mommy wanting a med-free little man,
