Hello, everyone -
Long time lurker on this board - I hope you don't mind me sneaking in a question.

This is my fourth cycle ttc, and I decided to try temping. I'm using fertility friend to help me track my temperatures and it tells me that my temps fluctuate too much.

I take it at the same time every morning, before I get out of bed. I think the problem is that you are supposed to get "three solid hours" of sleep before you take your temp. I can't. I wake up typically once an hour or every other hour because my husband snores. Very loudly. (Sorry, sweetheart.) I sleep with earplugs and white noise machine, but he still wakes me up. I know I could move to the couch, but I really prefer to share the bed with my DH even if it is difficult to sleep. (And, yes, I am tired much of the time. But I figure this is all good training for waking up at night with a baby!)

Does anyone know of a solution? Can I temp in the middle of the day instead? Does anyone temp vaginally? I heard that may have less fluctuation.

Thanks in advance for any advice and insights.

take care,
No advice for the temp. But I have some for the snoring. My Dp snores too. And we had tried pretty mich everything. But ever since he started using the Breathe Right strips he doesn't snore anymore. Well sometimes he does a bit, but it is not loud enough to stop me from sleeping.

So I know how you feel. Hope this can help.

I know this had nothing to do with your question but I feel your pain and so had to respond

That was sweet - thanks for the snoring advice.

Unfortunately, we've tried those breathe-right strips and they really didn't do anything for him. But he'd look really cute in the morning when sometimes the strip would come partway off and be sticking straight up in the air... he'd be totally oblivious to this until he looked in a mirror.

Thanks again,
I don't ever get three "solid" hours of sleep before temping. I wak eup to pee twice a night. DP snores. the cat rockets onto the bed waking me up.. As long as you don't get up and do jumping jacks or brush your teeth you should be able to get a good reading and see a clear shift.

I also don't get a lot of solid hours of sleep because of nursing my babe and a snoring dh. I have found however that midnight to 4am seems to be a better chunk of time because after that we are all waking more often. So, I bought a thermometer with memory and I temp at around 4am when I wake to nurse and then check it when I wake up. HTH

Texaspeach – I forgot to mention our kitty that likes to wake us up too! She comes and taps us gently on the face when she wants some attention in the middle of the night. It’s too cute to get angry about it! I’m glad to hear that you are able to get successful readings with less than 3 solid hours of sleep.

Mamamerle – He did see a doctor and they recommended him to a sleep study. He doesn’t want to do the sleep study, though, because he is afraid they just try to sell CPAP machines to every patient that walks through the doors.

HeatherRN – I think if I had a consistent chunk of time where I did sleep solid, I’d be better off. I’m glad to hear the temping works for you, even with the nursing and snoring!

Bellejar – I so wish breathright strips did anything for him. His snoring I think comes from deeper inside that just his nasal passages… if that makes any sense.

Thanks for your responses! I’m going to see this month out, but I am doubtful that I will be successful. I just had a full one degree jump from yesterday to today. :
