It's that time of year again and the holiday helper thread is going strong. There is something I notice though, there are a number of families in need that help with pet stuff.
As any of us know, we love our pets even when money is beyond tight, they're part of our families and they don't not get sick or need feeding just because money is tight.
We have a bunch of regulars here, I know some of us are already helping on the HH thread, but maybe if we pool together we can help to make sure the WHOLE family has a happy holiday.

My wonderful ideas seem to end here, I'm not sure how to go about it (but I'm ever so sure that Kate, Brandi and Chelsae could come up with something)
So, would anyone else be in?

Can you get more specifics about what is needed? No names necessary, but it would be great to know real needs.

Click on the link in my sig. Or go directly to the database: http://www.spatulagirl.com/holidayhelper/ and click on "go help"

You can browse the famlies in need. You can search for something like "pet" or "dog" and if you have gently used items of any kind that you want to donate but don't want to search for a family, you can pm spatulagirl or Stacey0402 and give them a list of what you have and they will send you a familes address.

We are really trying to get the word out, so any help you can give is great!

Ok, I'm actually just going to pm Kate and when she gets a chance maybe she can send an alert out to the MINS asking who needs help for their pets and what that need may be.
I know Joanna and I probably have a plethera of gently used dog items (any MIN out there in need of a good bite suit????) Really, I'm guessing that yeah, a gc that will pay for that months dog food would REALLY be helpful right now.
Another thing to keep in mind, for those of us who spend a lot in any one pet food store....I have a Canadian MIN I am helping and they have a couple kittens. I went in this afternoon and told the owner what I'm doing, she handed me an 8 lb bag of food, we thought it through and came up with that kind because while not the best, it is readily available, decent quality and a decent price pretty much everywhere. She was HAPPY to help.

Yeah, I've got a decent-condition drop-pin XL crate that I can donate to anyone in my area (I would really like it to be someone in need, though, not just someone who wants to save $150 on a crate), and if I know dog sizes/weights/breeds I've got collars and leashes, shampoos, etc. My kids would LOVE to gather up stuff to send.

I think they'd have to be already ON the MIN list, not just any old person looking to get cheap pet supplies.
I've pm'd Chelsae (cause I had to pm her about something else) so hopefully she will visit soon and have infinite words of wisdom for us.

Infinite wisdom eh?

I have posted in the HH thread that FIN with pets should PM me. That should give us specifics of what they need. If you would like general ideas, gift cards to pet stores for food, anti flea stuff, toys, brushes, treats, shampoo etc.

Once I hear back from the FIN with pets, I will update y'all

Animals are lovely members of our families and it is nice to see them get treats at the holidays just like the rest of the family.

And thanks Shannon, for all the advice
