I am so glad to see this thread. I was just awake with insomnia thinking about DS's diapers. I have actually been using sposies for nearly a year now
: but really want to get back on the cloth wagon. The reason I stopped using them is the stink got to be more than I could handle. I have a front loader, so I can't do a soak, and it just doesn't use enough water to really get the soap out of them.
Tomorrow I am going to try boiling, but I need to know exactly what can be boiled. I have a huge mix of AIO's, pockets, prefolds, fitteds, doublers, you-name-it. They are cotton, hemp, microfiber, suedecloth, PUL, etc. I think I have a bit of absolutely everything out there. I was a bit obsessive when I was preggo with buying used dipes, plus I was given an absolute TON of them for free. They are all super, duper stinky though.
I have tried washing them all freaking day long with drying in between, and also with not drying. Like the above poster, I tried bleach, blue Dawn, bac-out, Tide Free, everything I could think of, and nothing worked. My stepmother accidentally dried a load with dryer sheets, and I got so frustrated, I stopped trying at that point and started using disposables.
So, my question is what exactly can you boil? I will start with inserts and prefolds, but can you boil PUL? What about wraps like Bummis? Microfiber?
