I'm not sure where to ask this, but can you be pregnant with a BFN? My cycle has been very regular. Like clockwork. This past month, I lost and gained back some weight kind of quickly, and then AF never came. I thought maybe I had thrown off my cycle a bit with the weight loss/gain. But still nothing, no AF, and it's been 12 days. I have taken about 5 tests and they have all been neg. I read that in rare cases it is possible to be pregnant without a BFP, but is it really all that likely?

Thanks!

Well, you could always be one of the rare cases.

Has it been 12 days since AF was due? If so call your doctors office in 2 days and tell them AF is 2 weeks late and that there's a chance that you're pregnant.

And if you do that, ask them for a blood test, not a urine test. The urine tests they use in doctor's offices are the same as the drugstore ones - in some cases, less sensitive.

The weight fluctuation could actually have a lot to do with it, too... (I don't mean to disappoint if you are TTC)... Also, it's possible that your hormone levels are wacky...My sister stopped having her periods completely (for a number of months) because the hormone levels got "stuck" just pre-menstruation for some reason... one of the top reasons (though in my sister's case, it's not been diagnosed) is cysts in the ovaries (PCOS?)...

Anyway, I'd definitely see a doctor to have hormone levels tested... and of course, get your blood tested for pregnancy, too!!!

How you get your answers soon!

Well, I'm torn. I don't think I want to see a doctor or even the midwife, because even if it is just that my cycle was thrown off, I wouldn't take anything artificial to get it going again. So, on one hand, if I'm not going to do what they suggest, why even go? Or is there some extra information they could tell me that could be beneficial?

Yes, this happened once before, I lost some weight (was trying to lose that time) and I just stopped ovulating. I was definitely not too skinny, but maybe my body just doesn't ovulate unless it's more "stocked up" for pregnancy! The weird thing was though that even when I gained a bit of the weight back, my periods didn't return, and they didn't return for over a year until I went through a very stressful event, and then it came back. (And I got pregnant right away, so I only had one cycle!)

Also, during my 2nd pregnancy I had some slight bleeding one day after DTD, and I had an ultrasound, everything was totally normal and fine, but the tech commented that my ovaries looked like the picture of "textbook" PCOS. Yet, I had absolutely no other symptoms of it, so they said it was not PCOS. What in the world does that even mean? I had kind of forgotten about that until just now.

i am slightly ashamed but..... i went to hospital complaing about severe stomach cramps and they did a blood test and a scan to check i wasnt having an ectopic pregnancywhich showed that i was pregnant and it wasnt ectopic...

i never had a positive urine test with ds but got one at 6 weeks with dd (and i only took that to shut my friend up, i though i had a stomach bug or food poisoning, which strangely is what i thought i had when i was actually in labour lol)

Okay thanks! So, you mean that you did not have a blood test before then, with your ds, until 12 weeks? Just trying to figure out if it's worth it to go in for a blood test. Can those be negative too?

They could test your hormone levels - thyroid as well as the ones related to conception & pregnancy - just to make sure everything's normal. If something was off, you would then be able to choose what to do about it. Of course the doctors will probably suggest a medication, but that doesn't mean you have to take it. There are natural ways to balance your hormones and get everything back on track. Let us know what happens!

I have been wanting to start charting, and just had not made the time to do it yet, learn how, etc, because life is super hectic lately. I wish I had already started that though, because that would give me so much information.

I was tracking when my periods were, and paying attention to how I felt, and I could almost always feel when it was the week before AF, and my cycles were very very regular. So maybe I just didn't O at all. I took a couple more tests and they are all neg. I think it's a good chance I just threw off my cycle with the weight loss/gain. But now I need to figure out how to get things back on track I guess.
