My family was not stateside on Thanksgiving so we are celebrating today. I want to try this green bean casserole everyone raves about using Cream of Mushroom soup.

The thing is the recipe says "mix soup" but the soup is condensed so am I supposed to make the soup first according to the directions or just add the condensed soup (unprepared) to the recipe.

Please help I have a bunch of bean here that need some love.

I think it's actually only 2/3 cup of milk but a little more won't hurt, just bake it longer.

So just mix the green beans, the condensed soup, the milk and some of the french fried onions together and bake it (for 30 minutes at 350 I think). The last few minutes add some more onions on top. That's it

We just mix in the can of condensed soup. The recipe calls for milk too. If you make soup and then add it, the whole thing will be very watery. My MIL uses water instead of milk and it works but it is not so creamy.

My DH thinks the green bean caserole is the best stuff ever so I have been making it for years. I have experimented with fresh & frozen geenbeans but it just does not cut it. Honestly I have not looked at the recipe in a long time. I add 2 cans green beans, 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup, 1 can milk (I just fill up the soup can), mix in with part of the can of fried onions, cook until hot, sprinkle rest of onions on top.
