Can anyone suggest a yoghurt maker that works well for culturing for 24 hrs (SCD diet) that does not overheat? My euro cuisine maker overheats to about 140 deg which I'm sure kills the good bacteria.

Thanks

tell me more about this culturingx24 hours thing? is there an added benefit to extending the culture time? i forgot about my yogurt
: the last time i made it, and it ended up culturing for about that long before i remembered it.

i just have an ancient yogurt maker that i picked up at the thrift store--it has 7 smallish glass containers that fit into a heated base with a lid. i have the reverse problem that you have--my yogurt maker usually doesnt get hot enough on its own, so i have to insulate it with a towel to keep it warm enough.

The only reason I'm culturing for 24 hrs is that I've started dd on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet to help with her vomiting. Culturing for 24 hrs changes the sugars in milk to monosaccharides for those who have poor digestion and impaired guts.
