My friend was telling me about her brother who is very into juices and said he feels much better when he's juicing. I read something briefly on juicing here the other day.<br><br>
- Can someone give me a 101 on juicing?<br>
- What are the benefits?<br>
- What is best to make them with?<br>
- She mentioned wheatgrass as being really good, why?<br>
- Do they add a lot of calories to the diet?<br>
- Which is the best juicer to buy (reasonably priced at say $200-300?)

It's a quick read with some great info- most of the book is juice recipes.<br><br>
The best juicer I've found is the Omega 8003. I agree, Omega 8003 + 8005 (same juicer different finishes) and Solostar both get great reviews. I have used both and love them equally. You want a masticating single auger juicer. A double auger is okay-but there are more parts and a higher incidence of damage.<br><br>
Juicing fruit does add calories to the diet. IT also reduces fiber and increases insulin response. I don't juice fruit alone ever. I juice greens and sometimes throw fruit in for my kids.<br><br>
Wheatgrass is really high in chlorophyll and amino acids amongst other things. It is alkalinizing and cleansing, it adds a TON of iron to your diet. It is packed with protein. I can go on and on! Everyone should drink wheat grass.<br><br>
The benefits of juicing are that you get alot of nutrients packed into a small amount of liquid. It is easier to drink an entire bunch of kale than to eat it!
