Can You Tell What Position Your Baby is in?

2300 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Jennifer H
I have an appt with my FNP on Tuesday and I can't wait for her to try to feel what position this little one is in. I feel a lot of movement on the upper right side of my uterus and some flutters on the lower left, so I think she is somewhat transverse. But, how can you really tell? I have no idea what is hands, feet, knees, elbows or when i see a big round thing if it is the head or the rear end!

Nearing 33 weeks and I always start to get a little anxious about the whole breech issue at this point!

hi

i've been feeling lots of kicking on the right side of my rib cage, and can feel her spine along my left side, with flutters down by my pubic region... which i think is pretty similar to what you're having (?)...

i'm pretty sure she's laying head down, with her head tucked right near my pubic region / cervix, her fists near her face, her back curved, butt up (under my diaphragm), knees bent up to her chest and feet occasionally stretching out of my right side.

skulls tend to be very hard ~ when you rub your hand against it, you can tell it's bone, even though baby skulls are still soft ~ and baby butts are a little rounder and squishier than heads. butts will also be attached to legs, so if you can figure out where your baby's knees are, that will give you a cllue as to where his or her butt is. feet are a little bigger than hands; hands tend to be made into fists, and are smaller and rounder than baby feet. sometimes if you press in really hard to your belly and run your hands up and down you can get an idea of how the baby is laying (it helps me to close my eyes and translate what i'm feeling into a visualization of the baby).

my next dr's appointment is this coming friday, so i'll probably ask then if i'm right.

I have the same feelings that both of you have and I know that he is head down. I thought he was sideways for awhile because of the way it felt, but I had to have a second ultrasound and that showed him heads down.
Sometimes he'll flip and I just think, go back to the way you were! Usually he does about 2 days later.

She's head down, and kind of tucked into the left side of my uterus {it sometimes feels like I'm laying down on her when I go to bed}. She's starting to descend now and I can feel her head getting lower and lower.

I *think* {or at least according to my OB} it doesn't matter if the baby is breech until your 36 weeks or so.

i feel that too ~ at least, it *feels* like her head :LOL i suppose it could be her butt though.

i've begun noticing that some positions are *really* uncomfortable... like leaning over, for example. i feel like she's about ready to slide right out.
