I think mine can...I was laying down the other day and someone was revving their motorcycle outside really loudly and she started kicking! The revving stopped and she stopped. Then when it started again, she started kicking again!
Is this normal (I am 30wks?) Maybe she will make her daddy proud and be a gearhead

I also discovered something else the other day. I was at work in a very very very boring seminar and I saw my belly move, but not like she was kicking. It looked like she kind of settled in because the belly moved out a bit and stayed. I pressed on the spot where I thought she was and she kicked me! I guess she didn't want me disturbing her!

From what I've read, they can most definitely hear the outside world at this point.

Yes they can!! My little girl will move when daddy is talking to her... to cute already a daddy's girl! From what I read they can get startled by loud noises and know familiar voices.

Yes they can.

My baby started kicking like crazy when I was making a smoothie in my blender today! When I stopped, he would stop, and then when I started he would start. Just like the PP and the bike.

Also, when I put music on my belly, he kicks or pokes right where the speaker is!

They sure can. Its pretty cool too. When my dd's talk to the baby she will kick them. She really doesn't like it when I sneeze either, she jumps.

She gets really still when DH talks to her but she will roll to his voice. Its like he is listening very intently to him. He should enjoy it now b/c it won't last! LOL

The books say that it's about 24 wks when Baby can here sounds from outside the womb...but honestly, I think it might even be just a bit earlier.

I'm only now just beginning my 25 wk and it's been about 3 weeks that this little babe has been responding to her daddy's voice...the minute he walks in the door from work and starts talking, she starts going crazy. Any time he comes in the room and starts talking, she gets really active.

She also goes nuts at "American Idol". It is so funny.

Because men's voices are generally deeper than women's, they travel through the fluid better so baby will respond more to dad's voice than mom's.

It was quite a while back that I first made a loud noise and the baby jumped. I'm thinking 23 weeks maybe. Babe can definately hear now. I was with Dh last night while he was working on the remodeling and all the power tools really aggrivated the babe, so badly that I decided to leave.
