I posted a thread about this in TAO, but my Dh was just diagnosed on Friday with testicular cancer.

Does anyone know any cancer fighting foods that I can feed him to make myself feel useful?

Doctor Yourself has a lot of info. If you roll down the page on the left hand side in the alphabetical list you see cancer.

I think vitamin D is very important as is vitamin C

This is what I would do for my DH if he were in the same situation:

First stop eating all cooked, processed and otherwise contaminated foods.

Fill up on raw fats. Raw fats dissolve and bind with dead cells and will carry them away from the body, or at the very least neutralize toxicity, so the tumor will stop growing. According to Aajonus Vonderplanitz, who has tremendous success treating people with raw foods (provided they aren't doing chemo and/or radiation at the same time), the body needs a very high blood cholesterol level, he says between 250 and 400 made of raw fats. The other thing is eating raw citrus or other fruit to dissolve the tumor. He suggests keeping the diet simple and include raw meat (fish, fowl and beef). I would also look into the work of Dr Ryke Geerd Hamer, but every time I mention him on MDC, I get into trouble, so google him yourself and make your own mind up.

I am sorry about your DH and send him healing vibes.

Berries have tons of antioxidants and have been used in cancer studies - particularly blueberries, raspberries, blackberries.

What do you mean by raw fats? Fat from meat?

Also would ascorbate flush be helpful to give initial boost of vitamin c?

The source for this information is "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" by James F. Balch. I borrowed it from my ILs. There are a few contradictions with what pp's have said, but for the most part it all follows (I certainly won't say this is the perfect source of information!)

Recommendations:
Eat a diet that includes grains, nuts, seeds, and unpolished brown rice. Millet cereal is a good source of protein. Eat wheat, oat, and bran.

Eat plenty of cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower). Also consume yellow and deep-orange vegetables such as carrots, pumpkins, squash, yams. Apples, berries, Brazil nuts, cantaloupe, cherries, grapes, legumes (including chickpeas, lentils, and red beans), and plums all help tp fight cancer. Berries protect DNA from damage.

Cook all sprouts slightly, except alfalfa, which should be eaten raw.

Eat onions and garlic, or take garlic supplements.

Eat 10 raw almonds daily. They contain laetrile, which has anticancer properties.

Drink beet juice (roots and greens), carrot juice (beta-carotene), fresh cabbage juice, and asparagus juice often. Grape, black cherry, and all dark-colored juices are good, as are black currants. Also beneficial is apple juice, if fresh. Fruit juices are best taken in the morning, vegetable juices in the afternoon.

Drink spring or steam-distilled water only, no tap.

Do not consume any of the following: peanuts, junk food, processed refined foods, saturated fats, salt, sugar, or white flour. Instead of salt, use kelp or potassium substitute. If necessary, a small amount of blackstrap molasses or pure maple syrup can be used as sweetener in place of sugar. Use whole wheat or rye instead of shite flour. Do not consumer anything containing alcohol or caffeine. Avoid all teas except herbal teas.

Do not eat any animal protein - never eat luncheon meat, hot dogs, or smoked or cured meats. As your condition imrpoves, eat broiled fish three times a week.

Limit your consumption of dairy products; a little yogurt, kefir, or raw cheese occasionally is enough.

Limit, but do not eliminate altogether, your intake of soybean products; they contain enzyme inhibitors.

Take coffee enemas daily to help the body eliminate toxins. Use clenaing enemas with lemon and water or garlic and water two or three times weekly.

Do not take supplemental iron. The body naturally withholds iron from cancer cells to inhibit their growth,.

Use only glass cookware and wooden cooking utensils.

Get regular exercise. Cancer is less prevalent in physically active people. Exercise also helps to stave off depression and promotes oxygenation of the tissues.

Many people with cancer have acheived good results with a macrobiotic diet.

Kombucha tea has energizing and immune-boosting properties and may be valuable in fighting cancer.

Raw fats- coconut oil, olive oil and the like that haven't been heated. Tropical Traditions and Wilderness Family Naturals sell coconut oil that is raw.

anni'smommy I'm so sorry about your husband's diagnosis. That said, i think there are things you can do to heal. I've heard of Essiac Tea mentioned a lot as a potent cancer cure.

Here's a recipe I saw on another alternative parenting site--a natural family living site:

Here is the master recipe. You can halve it or quarter it.

6 ½ cups of burdock root (cut and sifted)
1 pound of sheep sorrel herb (powdered)
1/4 pound of slippery elm bark (powdered)
1 ounce of Turkish rhubarb root (powdered)

Mix dry ingredients thoroughly and store in glass jar in dark dry cupboard.

Use one ounce of herb mixture to 32 ounces of water, or one cup of herb mixture to 2 gallons of water, 1/2 cup herb mixture to one gallon of water.

Place water in stainless steel or enameled pot, bring to a boil. Add herb mixture and boil for 10 minutes. Scrape down sides of pot, cover and let sit for 12 hours. After 12 hours, re-heat mixture until steaming, but not boiling. Strain and pour into clean glass bottles. When you strain it do not use cheesecloth or an ultra fine strainer. This is a decotation, not an infusion, and you want it to be the consistancy of runny syrup. Don't worry about any herb particles, they will settle to the bottom of the bottle and you can drink them. (I have even used the dregs on skin wounds and it worked wonderfully) We go through so much of it, I make a gallon at a time and just put it in a pitcher in the refrigerator. You can pour it into sterilized bottles. Just refrigerate them when you open them. Store the bottles in a cool, dark place.

Dosage:
2 ounces mixed with half a cup of water once or twice per day. We do once per day for maintainence/prevention, twice a day to detox. Cancer patients take up to four doses per day. If you get bad diarriah, back off a little. Also drink lots of water, this is a strong diuretic.

The herbs:
Use the herbs exactly. Turkey Rhubarb is not the same thing as regular rhubarb.

BURDOCK ROOT
(Arctium lappa)
For centuries burdock root has been regarded as an effective blood purifier that neutralizes and eliminates poisons from the body. Burdock contains a volatile oil--especially in the seeds--that is eliminated through the sweat glands, taking toxins with it and alleviating skin problems. Burdock contains niacin, which is known to eliminate poisons from the body, including radiation. Burdock also supports the bladder, kidney and liver and has been said to dissolve kidney stones. It also contains an abundance of minerals, particularly iron. Studies have shown anti-tumor activity in burdock. Japanese scientists have isolated an anti-mutation property in burdock, which they call the "B factor". The Japanese grow burdock root for food as well as medicine. A memorandum from the World Health Organization revealed that burdock was active against HIV.

SHEEP SORREL
(Rumex acetosella)
Rene Caisse isolated sheep sorrel as the main Essiac herb that caused regression of metastasized cancer and reduction of tumors. She used the whole herb including the roots. Dr. Ralph Moss points out that sheep sorrel contains aloe emodin, a natural substance that shows significant anti-leukemic activity. Sheep sorrel contains antioxidants, is diuretic and has been used to check hemorrhages. It has also been used for food.

SLIPPERY ELM
(Ulmus rubra/fulva)
The inner bark of the slippery elm tree is well-known for its soothing and healing properties. It reduces inflammations such as sore throat, diarrhea and urinary problems. It has been regarded as both a food and medicine. Dr. Moss noted that "slippery elm contains beta-sitosterol and a polysaccharide, both of which have shown [anti-cancer] activity.

TURKEY RHUBARB ROOT
(Rheum palmatum)
Turkey Rhubarb has been shown to have anti-tumor activity. It is diuretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and has been used extensively to relieve constipation. It is medicinally more potent than garden rhubarb root and is more palatable.

I swear by this stuff.

This tea sounds very helpful.

Look up Essiac Tea.

Raw dairy -- ie butter (very important), raw cream, raw milk, raw coconut cream (homemade), raw coconut oil, cold pressed olive oil, raw eggs. And yes, raw meat and fish.

As for a vitmin C boost I would give him daily, 2 to 3 raw eggs blended with 2 to 3 juiced oranges and a tablespoon or raw unheated honey. The honey that I know for sure is unheated is Pacifica, it has "cold packed" on the jar.

ETA: I forgot avacado is also a great raw fat.

In Japan, Fermented turmeric is a big deal I have heard. It is known that turmeric itself... the curcumin has anti cancer properties.

My suggestion is to get some EM (effective microorganisms) which is a culture for a probiotic.. and ferment your own probiotics adding copious amounts of turmeric in

Also raw liver would be great too.

Just make sure it is organic because toxins are stored in organ meats.

My Mom had several melanomas which she was able to knock out with a combo of raw apricot pits and some herbal mixture... I know testicular cancer is a different thing entirely, but raw apricot pits have a very high concentration of a certain substance that kills cancer cells. You should look up laetrile therapy... Of course all of the "authorities" call it quackery, but I have seen firsthand the power it had in helping my Mom cure her melanomas. It might not be the magic bullet, but if it can slow the cancer down, or halt it's progression, or boost the power of another method, why not give it a shot?

basically, following a lot of the advice people have already given should create an alkaline environment in the body. If you keep your ph right, cancer can't live in the body. I would also avoid any coffee, or caffeine. Sugar is an absolute no-no. I would also have him drink lots of kombucha. Other than that, I have no advice for you. Just sending a

I know that a lot of people think that Aajunus Vonderplanitz is a little extreme sometimes (including me sometimes- heehe!) but I do honestly think he knows what he is talking about. He DID cure himself of cancer by food alone. His story is very inspiring. Dh and I didn't have what it takes to follow his way of eating completely, but we did promise ourselves that if we ever found out we had cancer, that is exactly what we would do. We have both of the books. You can take what you want from them, but they do have good info. He also does consultations over the phone for a certain amount of money.

The man really DID cure himself of cancer after the doctors had failed and tried everything and screwed him up to no end. He is super healthy now.

http://www.wewant2live.com/site/811618/
