I love holding my baby. She rides in the sling whenever we are out, fits in it real nice, and its great. But she is 7 months old, and the past week, I can't put her down for one minute. I thought it was separation anxiety, but I can be sitting right with her and she's bawling. I am considering calling the doctor.

She doesn't nap unless she is in the sling, I can't lay her down on the bed once she falls asleep in the sling, even if I lay down with her. I can't get much done with her in the sling, as she is old enough to be grabbing at everything, leans out to reach things and throws me off balance, etc. I have an ergo, and that is good for about 10-fifteen minutes once a day, then she cries.

What do you all think? Separation anxiety, teething, illness (with no other symptoms), typical baby behavior? She can almost crawl (at first I thought she was just frustrated with new skill developing), but she won't practice it anymore since she won't be put down, so how is she frustrated?

I am very frustrated. I am very willing to give much of myself to my children, but I feel like she's taking 110%, and I have a son, too. I have considered taking up smoking again, I am so on edge.

And the wierd thing: she sleeps great at night, she can be alone in the bed for hours asleep until we come to bed. What's going on?

I would say separation anxiety and maybe teething. My 6 month old is starting this. You would think I was cutting her feet off if I put her down for a second to go to the bathroom. She will play happily on the floor if I'm sitting right next to her, though, so that is a relief. But I'd better not leave the room! And it is pure torture for some other loving, trusted family member/friend to pick her up.

Oh, and don't be too sure it isn't a milestone crankiness thing. Just because she isn't physically attempting it, doesn't mean she isn't thinking about it.

I don't have any ideas for you, just

teething, & getting ready to hit a milestone. DS did this around that time. He crawled a bit ON HIS FACE from 6-7 months and HATED IT. He liked sitting, but had to be in prolonged physical contact (like, between my legs, back touching me, or me carressing his head). It passed after 3 weeks. hold on, mama! It gets better!

Is the ergo on your front or back? DS prefers it on our front.
Also, is she napping?

Good luck,
When my DD does this I spend a lot of time cuddling in bed w/ her at naptime. I take a nap w/ her or read. I'm sure it's tough w/ your older child.

I could have posted this my 9 month old is doing the same thing, I can't even pee without her going into hysterics. It's affected my 3 year old too. Anyway I've basically decided it's teeth/phase, it has to be because she has been to the dr, and is just fine not a thing wrong with her. I just hope it's short lived. At least yours sleeps well at night.

How is your body holding up, mine feels like it's going to fall apart at any minute.

This post sounds so much like my 7 month old. He sleeps in my lap during the day and can't be put down for a minute. I am hoping this is a phase and maybe because he is teething. My son won't even sleep at night unless I am in bed with him. If I get up for even a second he starts crying. The other thing is that he won't let anyone hold him but me. It is hard! I completely know how you feel!
