When I had my 20 week u/s, the tech "couldn't see" the top of my babe's spine b/c she was curled up into a tight ball. They decided I should come back in 3-4 weeks for another look. I go back in tomorrow a.m.

I'm terrified that something is wrong. While I don't think they'd have me just wait and come back later if there was a problem, I can't stop worrying. All possible worst case scenarios keep going through my head, and I'm usually such an optimist.

Anyone been through something similar and have positive stories?

i didnt have a scan this time around. but with dd they were unable to get a good view of her heart, but neglected to tell me that i'd need another u/s until some nurse called on a friday and told me i had to go in at 30 something weeks for a repeat scan the following monday. i totally freaked out about it. i rationalized that if there was a problem that my doc would have told me, but it didnt stop the panic and utter terror that lasted the whole weekend.

everything was fine, i imagine they just needed to complete their own records of her anatomy. but it was scary

i hope everything works out ok. keep us posted

Most of the time, if something is wrong with the spine, it's at the bottom. More than likely, they just couldn't get the images they needed. I'm having a repeat because of positioning, too. The heart looks fine, but they just couldn't get some of the images because baby was turned inconveniently. Try not to panic. I've scanned lots of babies who didn't position the way I wanted for imaging. It's common. Stressful for mom, but usually nothing wrong. & :

I'm sure the baby will be in a good position tomorrow and you'll find the u/s to be very reassuring.

I am sure all is ok! Like someone else mentioned - usually if something is wrong with the spine it's down lower... not at the top.

Praying all goes wonderfully!!!

Well, I went for my scan today and all is great! She weighed 1lb 4oz and as far as they can tell she's "perfect." I'm so relieved!
