My last dd used the bucket from my dd before her. By the time she grew out of it, it was just about expired so I tossed it. The next car seat I bought was convertable. 5-40lbs. This is what I am going to use for this baby. It also saves on carseats. Why buy an infant seat, a convertable seat, then a booster seat? This way I only have to buy two. You might even be able to find convertables that go from 5-80 lbs but I am not sure, I have not looked.

So far we average two seats per child. I think the different seats are just a gimick for car seat manufactuers to sell more seats.

Either the britax boulevard or decathlon, since they have infant inserts to hold a newborn snugly. Also, in case the baby is pretty small, Britax allows the straps to be an inch or so over the shoulders when the straps are on the bottom slots. If the baby is even shorter than that, you'll need an infant seat.

ETA: That's what I would use if I could do it over again. I hated the bucket with DS, but didn't realize it wasn't necessary.

BUT, even though they state 5 or 7 pounds, most won't fit a newborn properly - the shoulder harnesses slots are too high, even at thier lowest point.
