Car seat techs or other knowledgable people...

My dad was in a minor accident yesterday and our car seat was in his car. I'm looking for the list if things we check off to see if it's still safe to use. I can't remember it all, but the list had things like "if the seat was not on the side that got hit" and "if the car was able to be driven away from the crash".

Does anybody have this list or know where to find it? The accident wasn't his fault, but he's not sure if she even had insurance (he did file a police report though) so it would be great if we could just avoid the whole insurance thing if possible.

Thanks!

What seat do you have? All seats except Britax ones specifically state n the manual that they must be replaced after *any* accident, no matter how minor.

Britax seats are to be replaced if the vehicle was not driveable from the crash site and/or if there was frame damage to the vehicle.
It's a britax and I found the list:

* The vehicle was able to be driven away from the crash site;
* The vehicle door nearest the child restraint was undamaged;
* There were no injuries to any of the vehicle occupants;
* The air bags (if present) did not deploy; AND
* There is no visible damage to the child restraint.

Luckily, it DOES pass the test. It really was a very minor accident. My dad is 60 and not in the best condition physically, and he didn't have any injuries or sore muscles from it. We still don't know if the lady had insurance or not. She didn't have any insurance card with her and kept trying to leave the scene. Thankfully someone who witnessed the accident stopped and called the police when they saw her try to leave. My dad's paint job is seriously messed up and he wants some money!
