Our sweet Caroline arrived Thursday, May 27 at 1:15 pm into the waiting hands of my DH and at home. She was 7 lbs. 14 oz and just perfect!

Labor was in two parts.....the rev up during which I hit some pretty incredible lows and PART II when I went from 6-10 in 2 hours and pushed for 20 minutes to get my baby! I had a lot of irregular but uncomfortable contractions to start (and it turns out she was posterior and had at least one hand up) so I was up for two nights "laboring." Because my first labor was a long one, this really did a mental trip on me. I felt panicked because I knew what could lay ahead (hours of pushing) and I just kept feeling like there was no way I'd be able to do it. I sobbed a lot and told my DH and good friend that I needed to get all my options from the MW-like maybe I just need to go get some drugs at the hospital or how 'bout let's just skip to a c-section. I really was convinced there was no way I could do this on my own. They were great and just kept reminding me that I WAS doing it and telling me I could sob all I wanted.

They called the MW early on the 2nd morning and she gave me a short goal....make it to 10:30 when she'd come check me. Well, I did and when she checked I was 6 cm and really cooking. My MW was AMAZING and we settled in for the most intense couple of hours. They kept hot compresses and pressure on my back while I stayed my knees and elbows on the floor, leaning on the couch. And because I knew I was close, my mind just switched to "I can DO this." I started really vocalizing during the contractions and it felt so good. The MW said it sounded like singing. I just "sang" through each one and I literally felt like it reverberated with my cervix and I was helping my body open up and be ready. It was SO amazing! The most powerful I've ever felt. Pushing was challenging because I had so much back pain but my MW wife gave me the talk about pushing into the burn, actually making it burn and that it wasn't a wall. I could go through it and on the other side was MY BABY! I keep reliving those moments of pushing her out where I could feel everything and just feeling amazed that I did it! What a high!

Baby and I are doing GREAT! I feel so amazing (again compared to how beat up I was after my first LONG labor) and healing seems to be happening quickly. Big sis (who is 2.75) is also adjusting well and really loves her new sister. This is just the most magical thing-something that happens every day and yet when it happens to you its beyond words!

I 'm not sure I know how to get a pic up but will see if I can figure it out!
