I have a 2 1/2 year old and a baby on the way, due in November. We have a Britax Roundabout (?) for DD, and we have an infant seat for the baby. We need a second carseat for DD, and I'm wondering what to get. She's abut 30 pounds, but quite tall. I'm wondering how soon she'd outgrow another Roundabout. Should I get a booster seat for the other car? Are they not as safe?

Thanks!

I got my DD the Britax Marathon which is smaller than the husky (too big for my car) and bigger than the Roundabout. I personally don't feel a booster is as safe as a carseat, although that is just my personal opinion and not necessarily related to the facts.

I would definitely look into the Britax Marathon or the Wizard (which I'm lusting after, having just seen one). I think both of them work for tall kids.

I recommed the Britax Marathon or Wizard, especially as you are used to the Roundabout. We have a Wizard for my tall but skinny (30 lb) 3 1/2 year old. The Wizard is a tall enough seat to allow him to still rear face. One word of caution with the Wizard, some kids don't like the wings, they find them too constricting. My DS has absolutely no problem with them however. My recommendation would be to try your dd is both seats if you can and see which you both prefer. The advantage of the Wizard over the Marathon is it has an infinitely adjustable harness which can be adjusted with the seat installed and the child sitting in it, and its enhanced side impact protection. This is an important feature if you plan to put your todder in the outboard position and your car doesn't have a particularly good side impact rating or doesn't have side curtain airbags.

Here is a pic of my DS in his Wizard and Marathon:

I also have the Britax Husky, but that is my 6 year old's main seat. It is also an wonderful car seat, but it is BIG!

Thanks for the replies! I was totally into the Britax Wizard after reading about it the other night, but then saw so many reviews of kids who HATED it because of the restricted head movement. Maybe the Marathon would be better. We live in a pretty small town, so we won't be able to check them out here. I'll have to see how far we'd need to drive to check out a Wizard, but without buying it, it would be hard to tell. DD will tell me that she doesn't want or like anything new when we see it in the store!

I"m so glad to see that Britax has such a large selection of seats with 5-pt harnesses! I really didn't want a booster...

Thanks!!!
