I have a cast iron soup pot that I was wiping out because I had a lot of oil sitting in it. Every time I wiped it, a lot of the pan was coming off on the napkin. I have never noticed this with any of my other cast iron pans. Little flecks of the iron kept coming off and I was wary to cook in it tonight. Does this seem normal? It is a Lodge Logic BTW.

I would just give it a good scrubbing with a stainless steel scrub and hot water, if there's a lot of iron coming off and then reseason if you have to. It's expected that some iron will come off and get into your food, it's just iron.

I would question whether it's really the iron or if it's part of the seasoning flaking off.

Either way, a good solid scrub with steel wool or a wire brush and some hot water should help. Then a round of reseasoning.
