<p>We recently took in a cat who's around a year old.  She's what i call a "kid cat".  She lets the kids do what they want: pet her, carry her around, wrap her in blankets, etc.  She doesn't care at all--she loves them.  But when they cry, she gets all weird and bites them.  It's like she can't control herself.  She'll climb up their shoulders and bite their heads or neck and hold the bite.  I've never seen anything like this, nor have i heard of anything like this happening, and i'm completely baffled.  Why does she do this?!  Her behavior otherwise is perfectly normal.</p>

<p>My roommate had a cat who would get weird when we whistled...  Didn't bite us, though.  She'd put her paw on our mouths if we were sitting and she was on our laps.</p>

<p>My cat bites me (or whoever is holding the baby) when he cries. I think it really upsets her, she either wants me to make it stop or thinks I'm *making* the baby cry. Sounds like your cat is sort of being a mother cat. </p>

<p>Certainly sounds like the crying upsets the cat.  Perhaps get the cat a Feliway collar to relieve the stress wherever she is when it happens?</p>

<p>I don't know anything about this really, but it's interesting to me that she goes for the neck/head. Mother cats carry their kittens by the neck, makes me think that if she hears crying she's trying to get the kitten out of trouble (I'd assume a crying kitten would most likely be stuck).</p>

<p>My cat does the same thing to my three year old - and goes for the head/neck as well. It def. doesn't appear as a mother cat trying to help a baby cat, lol. It more looks like she's going for the jugular!</p>

<p>I agree with the mother cat theory.  She's trying to take them to the nest and make them safe.  That is soooo freakin sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!</p>

<br><br><p>She leaves marks and makes the crying worse.  I really think either she's playing mother cat (is getting the back of your neck bitten soothing if you're a kitten? or else it's a mother-cat "quiet down so we don't attract attention") or the noise makes her crazy.  She bit my son on the head once.  Last night, she bit my daughter on the back of the neck.  Before she did that, she bit my sleeve.  Yeah, so i can't figure out why.  I'd hoped there would be an expert here.  </p>
