So far, CDing has gone very well! DS seems happy in them and doesn't fuss when he's wet, so it must be working.

Just some rambling with a few ?s interted!!

1) What is the best way to wash fleece covers? Regular detergent? With the other clothes? By hand?

2) How do I use a doubler? Inside the prefold, with the terry towards the body or the other way around? Or outside of the prefold with the fleece toward the cover? What works best?

3) Why are prefolds so long? So far I've been folding them down in the front instead of the back. Do other's do this too? Should I trim and hem or just wait because he'll grow more?

4) Why do companies make baby clothes intended for sposie use? Over night, he went from 6 to 9 mo size onesies to his 12 - 18 mo due to the bigger cloth butt. Anyone else notice this?

I fold mine down in the front too. I figure DS needs more absorbency in the front.

I also noticed the big butt issue. He only has it when I use a prefold that is folded into thirds. I started using the "bikini twist" and his diaper has become much smaller, no more big butt. Also, his fuzzi bunz doesn't give him big butt.

Are you securing the prefold with a snappi or pins or just trifolding and laying in a cover? Trifolding makes for a pretty bulky diaper. Securing with pins/snappi makes for a trim fit, especially if you fold nice and neat. I usually fold down the excess in back, but I only have girls in diapers right now. I folded down the front when my ds was in diapers.

Fleece covers are just bulky. I always just washed ours with the diapers or sometimes with dd's regular clothes.

For the doublers.. if they're topped with microfleece then you put that side next to baby, and it will wick moisture away. Just be sure not to put microterry or microfiber directly next to baby's skin, as those can irritate.
