Cool idea, mama! Did you glue them together? About how many boxes did you need for that sized house (making mental notes here . . .
)?

If the glossy cardboard'll take the paint at all, a layer of paint'll probably make it stay together *better*.

I love it!!! I've been thinking about ways to make some kind of fort for my daughter, and I think this would be perfect.

I didn't want to buy anything new because we are trying to buy less stuff. This is such a cool way to reuse boxes and they can still be recycled later (you should cross post in Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle forum
).

I think I might have to go buy a bunch of cereal and take the bags out so I can make one ASAP

Spray paint will probably stick to the boxes and you can do it in thin layers so the boxes don't get too wet with paint and will hold up nicely.

That is awesome! Can I ask how sturdy it is? I really want to build something like that but I have some rough and tumble kids. I had a kid-sized tent, but it lasted less than a week due to kids (well, one in particular) jumping on it.

A friend told me about a fort she built out of milk cartons and I was planning on doing that, but it will take me years to save the cartons, especially since I buy milk in plastic jugs! Cereal boxes seem much more feasible!

Erin- freerice is soooooooooooo addicting

So I gave a rough count on boxes and it took about 75 boxes to build the house and it is very sturdy I was very surprised by how sturdy it became just use lots of packing tape to hold it all together and make sure you have a roof on it because thats where it gets a lot of support part of our roof has recently fallen off so its not as sturdy as it was but the kids have been playing in it for over 6 months ( 8 yr old, 2 yr old and 1 yr old)

post your cereal fort if you make one!
