I had a LEEP and was told I needed one, so the OB put one in first time, didn't even check, it was nothing but pain pain pain. I later found a scan to say I was 36mm, which is good

Also when they took it out nothing happened, I had to be induced 4 weeks later.

Everyone is telling me I HAVE to have it again, do I?

I had one with my second pregnancy because I had PPROM and dilated to 4cm at 34 weeks with my first pregnancy (previously had a leep and a cone biopsy). So, I will have another cerclage with this pregnancy.
When your doctor put in the first cerclage, was it only because you had the leep? If that's the only reason they put one in, I'd find another provider! A diagnosis of incompetent cervix shouldn't be made unless your cervix has measured short (you said that they didn't even check!) and/or you've had 2nd or 3rd trimester loss or preterm baby, or PPROM.

yep he never checked, this was in the UK, so you don't get to pick your doctors.

I had a LEEP and a cone, but it wasn't that week as it didn't dilate much after the stitch was out, baby head down and contractions for weeks

I'm being told once a stitch always a stitch, I just hate to have to do it all again, KWIM

Are you still in the UK? If not, I'd definitely get a second opinion. Even in my case, my doc said I could make a valid argument for not getting one again - he recommended it, agreed that the decision was ultimately up to me. I decided to do it again because my cervix was measuring short by the end last time, I started contracting against the stitch at 37 weeks, and I don't want another preemie. Your case sounds so different, especially if you ended up having to be induced weeks after the stitch was pulled! It certainly sounds like you could go without.

we're about to go back to the UK for lack of medical insurance. There is someone here I can see, they said at 11 weeks 4 days, but then if I need it it's like 10,000 cash, which we don't have,

I don't want a preemie, although a little bit early could be a good thing given DS got stuck (i'm only small)

Oh did I mention we TRIED everything to get baby out before I was induced, bouncing him on my "weak" cervix didn't work LOL

I would do it if it wasn't a night in hospital and all that pain, also I had contractions for 2 days after the stitch which was not fun

Typically once a stitch always a stitch.. and Id rather have the stitch than risk a loss.. Im waiting on mine right now.. and they are now deciding that I might not have it that Imight have something else instead but Im running outof options. Im 15 weeks dilated 1.5 and wont be seeing my high risk ob until 17.5 weeks.

Mine was an outpatient procedure, and I was given good pain medication. Perhaps it's the difference in medical systems?
