What are the chances of having a vaginal birth after a c/section, if your c/section was approx 1 yr before the time you would be delivering this time?

Just fine.

I'm doing one this time. It's certainly MUCH safer than a repeat c-section, that's for sure!!!

From BIRTH AFTER CESAREAN by Bruce Flamm:
"Rumor has it that its safer to wait several years after a cesearen section before attempting a vaginal birth. There's absolutely no evidence for this belief. Studies on wound healing have shown that tissue regains the majority of its strength within a few weeks of an operation. The tissue that gives a healing wound its strength is called collagen. According to a general surgery textbook, 'Collagen content of the wound tissues rises rapidly between the sixth and the seventeenth days but increase very little after the seventeenth day and none at all after the forty-second day.' Since the uterine scar is almost fully healed within weeks after a cesarean section there is no reason to postpone plans for another baby."

There is at least one study which shows a slightly increased chance of uterine rupture when the delivery interval is less than 18 months, but it isn't a huge increase. The study is from the Feb 2001 issue of Obstetrics & Gynecology. The risk increasein that study was 2.25% chance of rupture (when delivery interval was 18 months or less) vs 1.05% (when delivery interval was 19 months or longer).
But was that study counting hospital births augmented with pitocin, or conting dehiscences? If it placed the non-quick-vbac rate at above 1%, it might have done one of those.
OMG! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck with Vaginal birth! Are you seeing a mw? I bet your chances would be higher with one.
GOOD LUCK!

The study did include pitocin inductions, but not dehiscences. Pitocin inductions would have been included in both groups and the study mentions controlling for that effect. I think the point of the study is more the increase in risk when the delivery interval is less than 18 months. There are things you can do (like avoiding induction) to reduce overall risk.
