I've mentioned this in chat a couple times, but I figured I would post about it. : My DH and I have decided to hire a midwife as a "back-up" The women we've found are totally OK with just hanging out here in the background if thats what we want. I am really excited! IF we ended up UCing, we would have to go to our doc's office within a few days for the PKU/hearing test, and then go to our town clerk's office within a week for the birth certificate. Now we can just stay home, because the midwives will handle all of that crap for us.

Anyway, anyone else have anything random and/or exciting to share?

Danny was on the phone with my mom and he kept saying "I wonder about something......", so finally my mom asked "what do you wonder about?" and he said "silly things" (). Then he said, "Mimi, I want YOU to wonder about a butt crack" I don't know what it means or where it came from, but it cracks me up. We all say it all the time now.

I'm here. Bored. Trying to entertain my toddler while sitting on my butt... not working. Why are toddlers so needy?

Anyway cool about your change, sounds like it will work out great.

Congrats on finding a good midwife! I finally found an awesome doctor. They even mentioned being ok with not vaxing unprompted on the phone when I called to line her up for baby! How cool is that?

Yay for midwifes who actually trust women's bodies! Our midwife is very similar - she recently spent half of a friend's birth in her car because she got the feeling the husband was uncomfortable with her being there, and thus making the wife nervous about husband, etc... So, Cathy just sat in her car reading and doing sodoku for a few hours, until she was summoned. The other day i told her I was nesting to the point of rewashing all the clean dishes in the cupboards and she told me to leave her something to do while I am laboring, haha.

That's awesome. My sister's midwife was the same way. My sister is really private and I think she would have preferred to UC, so the midwife just hung in the background then stepped in after the baby was born to clean up and check that everything was okay.

I've had a change of plans too. I have been hesitant to post about it because I feel kind of stupid, but I'm no longer having a homebirth. For us to have a homebirth dh would have had to get a second job. I was getting really upset and stressed out about having him gone even more than he already is, especially while we'll have a new baby and I'll need all the help I can get. It just became more of a stress than it was worth. So I went back to my CNM. Thankfully the hospital I'm birthing at is very small and like a birth center. I just want to get this baby out and get this all over with.

And congrats, starry mama on finding a midwife that will work for you!

Yay for hands-off midwives!

I'm still here but DH and I were literally up all night long cleaning our room, reorganizing it, putting clothes away, sorting toys, etc. We laid down for an hour around 9:30 this morning before getting up for our midwife appt. Then we took a 4 hour nap and have been up ever since. : And I have a cold/tummy bug. Thankfully we're going to go to bed soon and then tomorrow we have a pretty easy day- just going to look at a couple of houses and I've got to go register for my spring classes.

26 hours and 15 minutes until I'm in the clear for a hb!!! (36 weeks)
