<p>Hi! I'm brand-new here (lurker for awhile but finally got off my butt to register) and would love to meet some area mamas! The circle of friends my husband and I keep is pretty much singles and families with no children so we're adjusting to life with a two-month old and no families around us with kids. </p>

<p>I saw some older threads about the Raleigh area but not really for Orange/Durham counties. I'm sure there are others out there though, right?!</p>

<p>Yes there are plenty of MDC Mamas around CH/Cboro/Durham. There's a yahoo group called Chapel Hill Durham Alternative Parenting that you might like to check out. They're supposed to be having a park day today at Rockwood Park in Durham, but brrrrr it's cold!! La Leche League is also a great place to meet moms in the same infant stage. We have some absolutely fantastic LLL groups around here.</p>

<p>Hi.  I was thinking of joining a LLL group, since I am getting towards having a new nursling.  If there were just one, it would be easy.  But multiple good ones?  Where do I start?  Is there a list somewhere?</p>

<p>I'm a LLL Leader and know the Leaders of the Durham South and Durham PM and any of the Chapel Hill meetings to recommend any of them.  I think the best thing can be to visit several meetings and see which one is the best fit for you.</p>

<p>Seriously, I think that if you have an AP bent, there is no better place to meet other like-minded moms.  I'm still friends with many of the moms I met in LLL when my now-9-year-old was a baby (and our kids are friends, too!)</p>

<p>I'm in Durham, but I work full time, so I never get to go to the play dates or anything. I have an 8 month old daughter.  But there are definitely several other Durham and Chapel Hill mamas.  Carhootel, ncbelle, etc...</p>

<p>The Durham South location and the Chapel Hill location are both about 15-20 minutes drive for me.  I'll give them a try.</p>

<p>So, is the next Durham South meeting this Thurs the 16th?  I already am booked up for that day.  And the next Chapel Hill one is Jan 7?  I believe my friend from NY is in town that day, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.  I might have to wait until the next meetings.</p>
