If you do seafood, the Wreck of the Richard and Charlene on Mt Pleasant is really nice, esp if you can sit outside and look out over the water.

What kind of money are you looking to spend?

A great, affordable place would be Mustard Seed in Mt Pleasant or James Island.

An AMAZING and affordable restaurant in West Ashley is Al Di La. Gotta have the gnocchi.

Let's see....high dollar, go for Oak Steakhouse. Or McCrady's.

For great seafood, try the Boathouse, either downtown or on Sullivan's Island.

I miss Charleston! I am blanking on the name of my favorite restaurant down there, though. All I am recalling is Justine's Kitchen, but if I recall, its just real good southern food, not a typical "night out". Good luck!

Mc Grady's has the best Chocolate Martini I've ever had. Meritage (sp?) is a great Tappas Bar. There's also High Cotton, and a great micro brew place that the name escapes me now though...
