Hi!

I live in Mt. Pleasant, just across the river from Charleston. There are lots of reasonable places to live around the Charleston area - it's not all super high priced although Mt. P. is really getting that way, in my opinion.

We have a great moms group covering the whole area from Summerville out to Johns Island - lots of activities, play groups, etc. I'd say it's kind of a conservative atmosphere around this area for the most part, but there are pockets of crunchiness to be found.

This really is a a beautiful area and it's nice being close to the beach. Myself, I kind of yearn for the mountains...

Oh, it is very hot & humid in the summer though.

If you move here, be sure to check into our moms group though! It's a great way to get to know people.

My SIL used to live in Mount P., then she moved to Daniel Island , then she got a clue and moved to Summerville so she could afford rent. LOL.

West of the Ashley is very reasonably priced as well, housing-wise.

I love it there and miss it dearly, but there aren't very good services for SN children there, and my dh is a computer engineer and there aren't any jobs for him there in that field. If we could go back, if there were good services for ds, and dh could find a good job, we would go back in a heartbeat. I miss it so much.

I lived in Mt Pleasant for about 5 years (moved from Raleigh, NC) and LOVED it! I agree with another poster about it getting more expensive but it was a wonderful place to live.

We are a military family and now live in WA, west of Seattle. It's pretty but in no way compares with Charleston, I can't wait to get back. You can take the girl out of the south but you can't take the south out of the girl.

We're going to Flowertown in SUmmerville this weekend. It's always so pretty and usually lots of fun for the kids.

I live in Summerville and love the area too. I used to live in Mt. Pleasant and liked it there - but it's REALLY REALLY expensive. Also, keep in mind that the Ezzo's live there in Mt. Pleasant and go to Seacoast Church - EVERYONE I know that attends Seacoast is BIG TIME into the Babywise thing and all of the rest of the classes - so it's hard to find crunchy moms in this area!
