In the Take Charge of Your Ferility book it says to take temp after you've been asleep for at least 3 hours. DD frequently wakes 2 hours before we get up. Is this a problem. This morning she woke up 2 hrs early but I went back to sleep and took my temp at 6am (usual time). I felt very warm whereas when I woke up at 4am i was very cold. However, I was snuggling with DH. The temp was very high, leading me to believe yesterday was ovulation. However, today my cervix is much higher and softer than yesterday.

Could the temp have been caused by the breakup of sleep & snuggling? Just wondering if DH missed his window to get lucky tonight.

Well, first and foremost here is a link to an online charting handbook http://www.fertilityfriend.com/HelpC...ook/index.html I didn't look for this issue in it but you might find something helpful there.

I am assuming you co-sleep with your DD... are you breastfeeding ? When she wakes 2 hrs before you get up does that mean she nurses back to sleep ?

I think it would depend on the amount of moving it causes you, and I am not sure if BFing will make your basal temp change.

If it were me I'd relay heavily on the other signs you have like CM and CP, and if you are ttc then DTD as much as you can, when in doubt GIO, YKWIM ?
if you DTD every other day through the fertile time that covers all your bases.

What I always did was every time I woke up after at least 2 hours sleep I would take my temp then if I slept 3 hours after that then I would use that temp. I was never able to take it at the same time every day but it was still very reliable for me. I agree use your other methods of checking fertility as a back up.

I co-sleep and night nurse, and pretty much never get 3 hours of sleep straight. I started charting last cycle (cycle begins with m/c - hence the high temps at the beginning of teh cycle, if you happen to click on my chart) without hope that there would be a pattern, but there was, despite these issues. One weird temperature shouldn't mess things up too badly, as long as you can still see a pattern, I think. But for days like the one you mentioned, I have been doing this: I temp when I wake up early and "cool," and then again when I wake up at my normal temping time and feel warmer. (Weirdly, a couple of days, my temp was the same both times!) Then, I chart the temp reading that was taken at my normal waking time, but make a note of the "cool" temp too, so that later, if it is hard to see what's happening with temperature trends, I would be able to recognize it: "oh, yeah, that outlier was the day I wiggled around too much and so that high temp is probabaly wrong, I'll go with the lower, early AM temp instead." It's the best I can do... night nursing moms just can't go strictly by the book!
