Another week has passed again and it's time for us to say goodbye to the old and hello to the new chat thread.
Yay!
: 6 weeks to go! And we should have new windows and no carpet in the room of terror soon! Double
:
:!! I'd ask if you're ready, Tanya, but I know you're totally on the ball.

A great big thank you to menomena for leading us all in a letting go ritual last night! I'm always so grateful to be sharing this journey with so many wonderful ladies!

A big welcome to any and all newcomers! We hope that you come to enjoy our companionship, regardless of how hard it is to join us.
Remember, we will answer any of your questions that we can and we will listen whenever you need. While none of us has the same journey, there are similarities which we share.

And the requisite thread links:
Chat thread links (including detox/biochem thread links, about me links for various members and one or two random others)

Tinyblackdot has started a lunch ideas thread here.
Shelsi is requesting some support, commiseration and ideas here.
MotherSwan is trying to find a good homemade gf all purpose flour mix here, so if there is one which you mix up, let her know.
And a new member, CDH, is asking about weaning an allergic child here.
And the supplement swap thread.
A newcomer to the forum is asking about the relationship between Celiac and other allergies/intolerances, as well as allergy testing here.
I think that's it for now... There are a LOT of really interesting threads starting out this week.

I'm feeling fabulous today- I even spent the last 6 hours cleaning my house!! Thanks to the waning moon ritual, or my remedy that just kicked in, or a little of both.

Unfortunately, that's a Canadian brand. You may have to contact them yourself to ask about the source of their caramel. It does come up as gluten free on searches, fwiw.

My last quarter of anatomy & physiology started last night/this morning. First topic... Digestion! I got to tell the prof how low HCl can cause GERD
and how fermented foods could get her dh off his reflux meds
The same prof who thinks vitamins are dangerous (they can upset your body's balance) and foods are better (which they are) and whose daughter had a fear of protein foods growing up...

What if your body's balance isn't exactly... balanced to begin with anyway?

Welcome to the chat thread.
Be forewarned that we talk too much.

I've added your thread to the list of personal threads in the Chat thread links thread (that nearly broke my brain, writing that).
Hoping you get the help you need.

And what if you're balanced quite stably - but upside down!?

One of her daughters has asthma, too - and uses an inhaler, and she (prof) has the body of adrenal fatigue/cortisol resistance. She's healthy and uses margarine, but shudders at what her parents and grandparents back in England used to feed her. Her husband's cooking tastes great, but he claims it's because he uses real butter.

Brainwashing is amazing.

So we took my daughter to see a GI doctor. We're still waiting for results. IN the meantime he wants us to do digestive enzymes with meals & S. Boulardii.

We've been doing that this week. On Thursday DD came down with a terrible cold (coughing and the like). Not only that but she's been horribly cranky, moody and easily set off. She's not normally like that when she only has a cold. Of course she's not sleeping well.

I'm wondering if you think any of the mood stuff could be due to bacteria displacement caused by the enzymes or S. Boulardii? Like die off or something? Or am I just making things up in my head?

I agree with CS. And sometimes making a big shift, even if it's a good shift, can make us more vulnerable to illness, so it may not be a coincidence that she got sick. If you can get some of the modifilan into her, I'd do that. My kids get 3/day (at 3 separate times) but I'd do 6 if we could afford it all the time.

I'm not sure if symmetry issues technically count as midline issues, but I think it's a prenatal nutrition issue. I forget what now, but I've seen asymmetry in the kids (my daughter's teeth are a great example) and I think it was nutrition.

What do you think of becoming a registered dietician? Is it even remotely close to the types of things we've been discussing? or is it more standard american diet nonsense?

Yeah, this is what I was afraid of, her getting sick. She always gets so congested and either does or almost throws up from the mucous. It's so sad. And she's been kind of lethargic.

BTW, the bottle says to take all 3 Modifilan at once. But you think its better to take separately? Do you think it might help with the illness?

Feeling good today too. Cleaned the hell out of my kitchen. The eggs are hidden for the kids tomorrow. The baskets are made up and on the counter. Yay!
: Come on Easter morning.

Wow. Looking forward to hearing more about this class & instructor. Incidentally, what *is* the "body of adrenal fatigue/cortisol resistence?" And what does that really mean? Thanks!

Yes, definitely! Just watch for a few days. If things don't settle down.. then, maybe investigate some other causes?

I've thought about this too. I think it's a lot of the same old US BS. But, I think sometimes you have to get the "credentials" to be "legitimate" and then you can give out the good advice.
But, I would say that the internship you do, you'd want it to be with someone who is on the same wavelength as you.

Are there any weird ingredients in there? That's what I'd be wondering about. We started DS on probiotics, and 2 digestive things from the osteopath and he's been doing really well. I'm still suspicious of die-off. It just seems so much like "reaction" to me.

I have a friend who's an RN and a registered dietician. She was the one who's baby shower I went to last night. The one talking about how you have to lie to get abx from the doctor. And she's total food pyramid... push the grains and dairy... If nutritionists weren't so looked down upon, I'd think that would be a better route. Though I think it was a nutritionist we met with at the pediatric GI when DS was little. They told us what we couldn't eat (though they didn't go into what you SHOULD eat). Maybe that would be the way to go... I'm still thinking about doing something different career-wise when DD2 is in school full time in a couple of years...

ellasmama- forgot to say earlier, sorry you guys aren't tolerating the pork.
I thought you would feel my pain about this- I got into a LONG conversation with the guy from Slanker's yesterday (shocking, I know.) I called specifically to ask if they would make an exception to the minimum order so that I could just order a few pounds of pork to trial.... anyway, he proceeded to grill me about what I'm feeding DD, and explain (since of course I don't know anything about allergies myself...) that ALL allergies are the result of grains, because they cause fungal infections which release mytotoxins, and that is how allergies work. So if you stop eating grains, and grain-fed animals, you won't have allergies.
And when I said that she has reacted to 100% grass-fed beef, he said well it obviously wasn't really grassfed.
:
And he completely ignored the word anaphylactic when I used it like 6 times. And THEN, after 10 minutes of that lecture, said that there was no way he could send out any less than 15 pounds. Because can you just imagine how much money they would lose if they let people do that?
I'm like wow dude- do you understand that if you let me trial your meat and it worked, I would be ordering hundreds and hunreds of dollars of meat from you? I'm not asking you to let me order 3 pounds at a time every time. WHATEVER. I will order from someone else. (Although according to him, everyone selling grassfed meat is just lying because his is the only REAL grassfed meat.)
I was so irritated after that phone call. I really want to order meat from them, but now I can't.... because I'm seriously grudgefull that way.
from the previous chat thread. cs, i know, that guy was trying to explain to me how it wasnt POSSIBLE for dd to be allergic to grass fed meats and i was like totally questioning everything in my head. then, when he told me he thought she reacted to all the stuff on alcat because her blood was tested with grain-fed animal meat i was thinking he really might be on to something. too bad she isnt tolerating the pork or the buffalo through bm now and both had been safe for a little while. now they give her diarrhea. wth! he was seriously something though. he def wanted to help, but wasnt that helpful.
nessa, im sorry about pork for you too. i was so surprised when dd was tolerating it and was happy to stuff in some protein. oh well, it was good while it lasted. now, our only protein is pumpkin seeds.

When I tested DS on chicken it was pastured chicken and when I tested DD2 on beef it was pastured/grass fed beef. They still reacted. That's like saying it's impossible to be intolerant to ... apples because they're apples. It's just not true. They can be intolerant to any food at all. I remember someone asking about what ALCAT tested, and I thought it was raw milk. Can't remember if someone asked about the meats though... I just emailed them because now you made me curious.
