hey ladies~we had our ob appt. yesterday and had a sonogram to verify dates and whatnot. well, we saw and heard the heart just beating away <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/heartbeat.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="heartbeat"> that was cool! now it seems more real for me...since i've had a missed miscarriage and had to have a d/c, so i tend to be a little distanced from whats happening till i know for sure that the baby is really there. so now its easier to get excited. and of course my m/s kicks in w/ a vengence!! yuck!<br><br>
im right at 7wks and edd is june 25th. i was going to have a vbac, but my ob prefers me not to since w/ each of my girls i needed pitocin to jump start me (i don't progress on my own, took me 10hrs to go 2cm w/ my first) my first was vaginal and my 2nd was section cuz the cord was wrapped around her neck twice and wouldn't allow her to descend into the pelvis...so no vbac for me...i was kinda bummed, but now im just going to be positive and make sure its a personal experience even if it is in an operating room <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up">

Kelly, iirc "Birthing from Within" has a section in it on c-sections - ways to make them special, connect w/ your partner & the baby etc. I'd be a little bummed too - but since you know early on, that will probably help you plan things to make it special.<br><br><br>
plus...being an attachment parent has a lot more to do with what you do with your child once they come out - not just how they get there <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">

I'm back from my horrible trip home for my Grandma's funeral. I'm 11 weeks today, and have had a few good days recently as far as the m/s goes, so maybe I am finally nearing the end of it. That would be so great! Is there anyone else starting to get a little relief from the m/s?

Hi Stacy, I still feel queasy occasionally, especially when I shove food down my mouth too fast or drink water to fast. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> I think you're at the time when the queasiness should be letting up, so cheers!<br><br>
Well, it's really sinking in today that indeed we'll have this baby in June. We are getting more excited about it, because as a pp said, I too distance myself until I know I'm safe.<br><br>

Had my last visit with my RE today.. 10 week US <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"> got to see the little bugger moving around <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> it was amazing. Heart rate 183, measuring EXACT for dates. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> Had a chat with the RE about the triple/quad screen.. which he thinks we should do, and I don't. Oh well he got me pregnant, he doesn't have to deal wiht anything else. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/heartbeat.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="heartbeat">

stacyl~sorry for your loss. glad that your m/s is letting up! im only 7wk5days and its pretty much here. its not as bad as it was w/ both my girls, so that's cool. i remember w/ my 2nd (whose edd was only 3 days earlier than this one) that m/s let up the tuesday before thanksgiving! cuz i was so excited to eat and enjoy turkey day fare!! so hopefully this will be close to the same. only 2 wks to go!! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"><br><br>

I had my first prenatal yesterday. I was 10 week 1 day! We tried to hear the hb but couldn't<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> He said he heard it for a sec but then lost it. He reassured me that it is totally normal and that at 10 wks it works on some not on others.<br><br>
I am really happy with the care I am getting. This is a doctor who does homebirths. He has been doing it since 1972. His office is nothing but pictures of all the babies he has delivered. Over 5,000. Anyway, I think it because with my ob, they wanted to do a pelvic and all the crap on your first visit. I can happily say my pants stayed up the whole time <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up"><br><br>
Now I just have to trust my body and wait until my next appointment Dec. 8 <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/nut.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="nut"> to hear the little bugger.<br><br><br>
Amy I cleaned my whole house the other day and I think it almost put my dh into shock! I started feeling better on Wednesday and have felt pretty normal since then!<br><br>

Thank you for the condolences. The funeral was actually not the worst part of my trip home. The worst part was due to my Dad who has Alzheimer's diesease, and is now in need of some assisted living, so I spent all my time taking care of him and trying to get him squared away, which is really stressful.<br><br>
Now I am actually doing battle with my MTF (Military Treatment Facility) because they refuse to write me a referral to the homebirth midwife or the birthing center, and are trying to force me to give birth on base. Yeah, that's just where I want to have a baby - in a military hospital! So, it looks like I have to call and cancel my first appt. with my midwife which was for Monday, and I have to write an appeal letter to the Admiral of the facility to try and get a referral. Nevermind that it is covered by my insurance! Argh! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:<br><br>
But on the bright side, still not so sick today...yay!

stacyl~sorry about your dad. my grandma had it too. it was so hard to have her not recognize me...my grandpa refused to go into assisted living so he and my grandma moved in w/ my mom. they've passed now, both almost 2yrs ago. now i remember some of the funny things my grandma would do if her dementia was bad that day. one day she and my mom sat down to some cookies and she told my mom to not be rude and to offer cookies to the people over there. well there was no one else in the room and my mom just played along (that was easiest) and told her they were on a diet. and my grandma was appeased. another time we were in the car and she was sitting in the front seat and kept reaching into this non-existant bag and would bring her fingers to her lips as if she were eating something. i asked "grandma, what are you eating?" she told me "popcorn" and then she smiled..i miss her <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/luxlove.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="throb">

Hi all!<br>
I have been MIA around here because real life (work especially) has been really busy the last few weeks, and I've been so tired. But I am really excited and just read up on this current chat thread. It is such a gift to have the resource of all you multiple-time mommas to learn from. Thanks for all the comments re: nursing and everything! I'll most likely need to go back to work full- or close-to-full-time after 2 months or so, so the pumping info is much-appreciated.<br><br>
We had our first exam yesterday and I have been in a great mood ever since. Some of you might remember me posting a while back about it being hard to "know" that I was really pg, since I haven't had m/s. Well, the appointment chased those fears away. It went really well, the NP said that my blood work and blood pressure were great, and the (very brief) ultrasound was amazing!<br><br>
The baby is really in there! With a heartbeat and arms & legs and everything even though it is only about an inch long! We could see it moving around (it looked like it clapped) which she said isn't so common this early and was a good sign. Also the placenta looked good, too. I am very relieved and happy - DP was so happy seeing the baby she was crying because it has hands and feet. We've decided to tell more people/friends, now that we've seen the <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/heartbeat.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="heartbeat"> (though still not our jobs just yet).<br><br>
I hope everyone else is doing great, too. Sorry no breastfeeding tips since I'm expecting my first <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">
