I just found out that my pediatrition isn't covered by our insurance.
: So, now I'm trying to find a new one. Do you know of any in the Chatty area who are BF friendly and will tolerate delayed/selective vaxing? DH and I are really ticked off about having to find a new Ped ... we really liked the other one.

If you are willing to drive to Trenton GA I have THE best doc. She is a very close family friend of ours and she is BF friendly and cool with whatever vax choice you make as long as its informed.

Dr. Alicia Wecksler at Trenton Family Practice. She is not a ped, but a family practice doc. PM me if you want her number.

I'm also looking for one who's vax friendly. A friend suggested a pediatrician who works with Dr. Eldridge (he was my ped). Her name is either Carol something or Dr. Carol (sorry I don't know exactly, I haven't had a chance to look for myself). Anyway, she's from South America and trained in France so she's much more open to limiting and delaying vax's. My understanding is that she has done so with her own children.

are you actually in Sewanee? Dr. Koella is in family practice and is non-vax tollerating. My babes were seen by him. We discussed the option, but in the end he could put up with my position. He was never mean, he just wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing. He actually advocates for spreading vaxes out and for not getting some like CP.

Sewanee Family Practice: 931-598-5648

He'd totally know who sent you too

No, I don't live in Sewanee, although I try to get there as much as I can. DH and I went to undergrad there (hence my username). Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

We used to see Dr Amy, is she still at Sewannee Pediatrics across from Emerald Hodgson Hospital? She was very AP herself, and probably one of the biggest reasons I am an AP mom now. She was very tolerant of delayed/selective, and likely would ahve supported our decision to stop vaxing if we had stayed in the area. My daughter had a seizure disorder develop after her second DTaP shot, and Dr Amy told me to discontinue her pertussis. She was awesome.

Anyway, I recommend her if you are near her, or anyone else who is looking for a ped.

We go to Dr. Virginia Rodgers at Pediatric Diagnostics on Gunbarrel Rd. She's is very supportive of BF(and extended bf) and has no problems with me delaying/selective vaxing. I've had a baby lose weight and one who gained like crazy and neither time did she ever suggest supplementing or try to push any advice on me. She's a bit rushed, but I don't mind. The number is 423-698-2229

We go to Dr. Sherard at Sherard Pediatrics near the zoo. We tried Virginia Rodgers, but she told me that, "despite what I have heard, there are no risks to vaccines," at my first visit with her. She might be a wonderful doctor, but that statement really made me uncomfortable trusting her. Dr. Sherard is a LONG wait though, since he doesn't take appointments, but he'll chat with you as long as you would like, and he doesn't just limit it to medicine. He is VERY supportive of breastfeeding. I haven't seen him enough times to know for sure, but I think he is also pretty AP. My DD was only 5 weeks when I saw him, and he was already encouraging home schooling for us.
