you would put a soaker over an AIO if you were planning on selling the soaker and wanted it to remain 'new'. Baby models tend to forget that they aren't supposed to pee in things being sold! LOL In the pictures I use with Joe in stuff he is wearing an AIO or a cover over his diaper to prevent soiling!
I am pretty sure that is why she mentioned it!

I love the "got cloth" one, that must have been difficult to make b/c it's knit in, not embroidered on!! WOW
Actually, it looks like it's done in duplicate stitch, which is a method of embroidering over a knit to make it look knit in.

Still cute, though!

That "got cloth" is great! I think everyone should have one of those in summer to advertise their cloth dipes! How fun!

(No more soaker buying for me since I doubt Forest'll be in dipes by next summer)

I want to know who knitted these! My son was born 7 weeks ago, a major preemie at only 28 weeks. He's still in the hospital, and no doubt will be for another 4 weeks or so, :-(, so I've been able to make him some fitted diapers that will work for him....But, knitting is beyond me.

I'd so love to find someone who could knit something for him that will work for the first two months or so. I've got aristocrats, but with a lower 8 pound size range, we're far away from that working. Ideas anyone? Is Ms. "Got Cloth" out there?????

Wow!
I logged onto my new website tonight and almost fell out of my chair when I read the number of hits I'd had! Thanks fo Pamela for kind words!
No comment on who gets the "got cloth" soaker because it hasn't been delivered yet and I think the mommy in question should have something to brag about! I hope so at least if the darn thing fits.

re: soaker over aios - yes, that is partially so that dd will not "christen" said soaker, but also because I am relatively new to CD and only have AIOS at present!

Not long ago a friend asked to teach her to knit so she could knit a soaker for her dd. "Soaker?" I asked, "what's that?" Before I knew it I was writing a pattern, koolaid-dying yarn and had spent WAY too much on a cloth diaper stash for my then 17 mo dd! I've done the math and think I might break even unless she is slow to potty train.
I don't know how I remained so clueless. I attend Le Leche league meetings, wore my baby til she could walk and refused to be carried, etc..etc...but had never seen a modern cloth dipe and just had no idea how easy it could be.

I use HH, Bumkins and a few other fitted styles. So, right now my dd doesn't really "need" soakers although I do plan to make her some longies for winter and leak control as well. Then again, she didn't really need a silly fish hat either !

This is my only creative outlet these days (other than tantrum control) so I like to be free to do my own designs.
In fact, the "got cloth" mom requested a plain soaker but I just couldn't comply. Sorry! I think she's o.k. with it

I've been informed that I should not discuss business on this forum so I won't talk shop anymore! I've edited my post and hope I took out all of the offensive material.
I guess I'm a rookie in many respects. I did not intend to advertise here at all. I guess I got a little excitied what with all the fuss combined with sleep deprivation.

Hey, it's not really advertising if you don't have anything to sell, right ?

Thanks everyone,
Elizabeth

This mama IS an MDC mama who just recently started posting here (yarnia), and is in fact a very good local friend of mine! Sophie was a tester, and owns the beautiful pink initialed soaker, as well as the blue one. I am more than pleased with her work. Both soakers are trim, and I haven't had a leak yet, even overnight with this one layered soaker. Every time I go to her house and see her colored yarn, I drooool and want MORE MORE MORE. Obviously, I will be getting in line to commission and pay for any further goodies "I" want
. You all will love love working with elizabeth, who is a sweetheart for sure. I will let the owner of the other soaker reveal herself when she chooses

Kimberly? How small is your son?
Does your daughter have a doll? ;-) He is not quite the size of a typical doll, a 15 inch size. His tummy is a little smaller (not quite 11"), and his thighs and bottom are MUCH skinnier. But, I use a doll to test his diapers. I think I made the finished rise about 9 inches on the smallest ones. He's about 4 pounds now, and probably won't be too much bigger when he comes home.

And yes, preemie stuff is sooo, sooo cute. :)

Lydia,
Thanks for the nice comments and of course thanks for turning me on to the whole CD and soaker thing!
No, can you make Rowan go back to bed since she has been up since 4 am?????
It's the cold that will never end......

Kimberly,
I will work on a preemie soaker and see what I can come up with. Please feel free to email me and we can stay in contact.

HEY NOW! YOU GUYS STOLE MY SURPRISE!

Yep, that precious natural wool soaker is for my Kenny as you all know how I've sort of picked up a 'hyena' appeal for wool products! Elizabeth does do amazing work - not new at all to knitting OBVIOUSLY - just new to knitting soakers (though as chemigogo has stated - she's getting rather versed in it here locally
ag).

I get to try the soaker pictured above on Kenny's bum tomorrow. I'm really, really excited. The all natural one that you can see on her site is so very trim and I was looking for a trim wool that could be worn underneath clothing. I asked for just natural, but she couldn't help but add the 'embellishment,' and well . . . I LOVE IT!

This will fit wonderfully over FFs, SPs and cpfs - and since that is my primary stash I am tickled pink. Although covering up that 'got cloth' is going to break my heart. Hmmmm . . . see through pants . . . anyone? anyone? :LOL
