It's the closest hospital that can do his surgery. The hospital that is 5 minutes down the road from my house is not equipped enough to do his surgery or take care of him. I dont know if this hospitals level of NICU is a 3 but I would assume so if they would be moving more healthy NICU babies to a level 2.

That makes sense. Sorry for not remembering, but when will his surgery be taking place? I'd love to light a candle for you and him during his surgery so I can be reminded to send some positive thoughts and well wishes his way.

I am so sorry Ambrose.<br><br>
What a bunch of hooeyyou are going through with the hospital! Like Michele said, you should document all they are telling you.<br><br>
I pray for Las...that a miracle would PLEASE take place, that the hydrocephalus pressure would have ceased by now to give his brain a break.<br><br>

Well, assuming that the NICU is a level 3...if that's the highest level there is than that is what they have because they can handle the severist(sp?) of cases there.<br><br>
Ambrose, let me tell you that although this is horrible on so many levels, I really don't believe that Las is being harmed by this. A few days will not make a difference, IMO, with his brain. I am pretty sure the neurosurgeon would agree.<br><br>
How this all affects you and dh, on the other hand, is a nightmare! Maybe you can walk non-stop or if that's too painful, do a lot of squatting in the hotel room while you do othere stuff and just hope you go into labor. If you went into labor they would have no choice and they would just make room for him period. Right now this is elective, as far as they see it, since you are not critical and are just 37 weeks, blah blah blah. Take some dang black cohosh or something or some cod liver oil with orange juice (I think it's cod liver oil). Get those contractions a goin' I say...of course I'm just trying to think up anything to push things along.<br><br>
I am so sorry this is all happening. How horrible!<br><br>
I'm hoping that everything will fall into place and that you will be having Las tomorrow (Tuesday).<br><br>

I'm hoping that Ambrose won't be upset by me updating you since I didn't ask her.<br>
Las was born right before 3 today ( I think that was the time) and he was so sweet and gorgeous.<br>
He passed away this evening close to 10 pm (I think it was).<br><br>
He never took a breath on his own. They kept him on a ventilator until everyone could come see him. He was so precious.<br><br>
The great news out of all of this was that she did not have to have a<br>
c-section after all <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br>
Today she was dialated to 7 cm all by herself so they told her that she could try it. She pushed for close to 2 hours and he was born without her tearing or anything!<br>
I think that it is wonderful that she does not have to deal with having surgery on top of everything else.<br><br>
I don't want to give too many details since she will want to tell you all about everything.<br><br>
I think she will be home in a couple days.<br><br>
I know that the support from this community means a lot to her...and she will need all the support that she can get.<br><br>
Please don't ask me details because I don't want to say more than I already have.<br><br>
