hi.

can one catch chicken pox from exposure to an adult with shingles? can one catch chicken pox from kids who have been exposed to said adult with shingles but no symptoms?

I really want my kids to get chicken pox and a friend's dad was visiting and got sick....

Plus, is it responsible to expose your kids to chicken pox if they are already sick?

thanks.

I'm not sure, but I think I'd hold off if possible if the children are already ill with something else.

I asked a similar question the other week: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=635613

Short answer: You can get chicken pox from shingles, but you have to have contact with the sores. (My ds never did get it from his grandfather's shingles.) Once someone has chicken pox, it's regular chicken pox even if they caught it from shingles, and you can catch it normally.

I'd be a bit worried about exposing them if they were already sick, though, could be risky.
