"An Israeli study revealed an increase in neonatal urinary tract infections (UTI) after circumcision with a peak in incidence immediately after the circumcision period. In females (and intact males), the incidence rises gradually with age. This study contradicts earlier studies that showed a protective effect of circumcision in UTI. "

I can make a safe bet that this study won't be published in American mainmedia..

This doesn't suprise me. I've known quite a few circ'd males who have had UTI's. My cousin's circ'd ds had it four times in his little life, poor kid. He is 6 yrs old now. It makes more sense to protect the meatus with its natural protector (prepuce), given that the ridgid band is a sphincter that opens to expel the urine and closes tightly when urination is complete, than to create a wound and cover it with feces.

And I bet you're right. It isn't likely that this study would ever be covered in America's media. There's already a 'threat' to the circ rates. No need to make it plummet, BILLIONS of dollars are at stake!

Do you have a link to the actual study? This link does not mention ANY specifics about the study. I mean...NONE. If I were a hesitant parent, I would think that someone just made it up.

Links in Hebrew would do as well, my dh is originally from Israel.

Does ICGI have a link to the actual study? It seems odd that they don't.
