Anyone know if cleaning with apple cider vinegar is a no-no? I've always done cleaning/washing with distilled vinegar, but I'm looking into making my own vinegar and wondered if I could clean with it too.
Apple cider vinegar has some fruit sugars in it and it's brown in color and could stain certain things. It's a lot more expensive than plain white vinegar. I think white vinegar has been shown to kill bacteria and mold, but I'm not sure if the same research figures apply for apple cider.
The rule of thumb is to use apple cider vinegar for your body (internal and external use) and white vinegar for cleaning.
I use apple cider vinegar on my floors all the time, some times in the wash as fabric softener too. I think it's not as strong as the white for cleaning stuff like water deposits, but, otherwise I have had no problems with it.
