I don't know if this should be in this forum or one of the breastfeeding ones, so if it needs to be moved, that's fine.

I would really like to do a cleanse, but I am still nursing my 17 month old and most people I've consulted have said I shouldn't do any kind of cleanse until I'm done nursing. None of these people were lactating nutrtionists, however, so I'm taking their advice with a grain of salt. I'd really like to do a liquid fast (just juices, teas and broths for three days or so) but now I'm nervous to try it. I tried to do an alkaline diet (basically raw foods) and couldn't do it...I felt sick and gassy so I quit after three days.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this? Thanks!

There must be some way of detoxing for nursing moms. DS is 2 now, what if he did a cleanse at the same time i did? I was reading some pretty disturbing things about the leaky gut and colon health the other day, and i'm starting to wonder if the benefits outweight the risks of doing a detox. I mean, really, if my colon is full of nasty sludge, then all of the toxins from that sludge are going into my breastmilk too, everyday... So, in the long run, for both of us, wouldnt it be better to go thru a few days of *blech* and then have fresh sparkly clean bodies and milk afterwards?
